goodycruising Posted March 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2016 I think we saw she was parked there yesterday, and we did wonder what the name was. Interesting history, with a lot of owners.

Rare MicCanberra Posted March 3, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2016 Thanks David. I don't mind the smaller boats but not sure I want a small and old boat.
Opua Kiwi Posted March 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2016 Looking at marinetraffic it appears as if Diamond has done a 180. Now heading NE instead of arriving at Dunedin. Looking at the wind / wave chart for Thursday, there are some large SW swells predicted off the SW of NZ; so a transit to Aust via Cook Strait would make sense. Looks like they skipped Dunedin and also Fiordland ,I presume . The wind would make the harbour at Dunedin too tricky to navigate. Bridge cam shows next destination as Hobart. Rare MicCanberra Posted March 7, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2016 That is a shame for them, missing both Dunedin and the sounds.
Opua Kiwi Posted March 10, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 10, 2016 The decision by Diamond not to proceed around the bottom of the South Island earlier this week was a good one. It appears Explorer of the Seas had to remain overnight in Port Chalmers due to very strong winds. They were scheduled Dunedin - Tauranga; but marine traffic now shows Auckland as destination. Not often a cruise ship would do Dunedin - Auckland.

At present the SI is experiencing very high winds which is fanning bush and forest fires .
