Oceankaj is not in walking distance from anything.

Bus 25 and 27, Ho/Ho busses, taxi's and the cruise lines very expensive shuttle busses are the only options.

We are flying in the day before our cruise; what's our best transportation option from the airport to the Scandic Sydhavnen hotel?

We will arrive on a Saturday and plan to use that afternoon to go to the Carlsberg Brewery. Is there transportation from the hotel to the brewery? It looks like it's about a mile away, so is it walkable? (I have read that this hotel is on a large and busy street, so not sure how much walking is practical.)

And then the next day, what's the best option from the hotel to Oceankaj?

After the cruise, we're staying two extra days in a hotel by Tivoli, so we'll "do" more sights post-cruise.

Thanks!!

On your photo guide to use the bus to the terminal, the bus seems to be regular bus, is there room for suitcases? I have a family of four, I wonder if we can get on the bus with 4 suitcases?

By public transportation the most easy way is to take a train into the central station and from here change to line A towards Hundige or Solrød Strand (or Køge in the weekends and public holidays) or line E towards Køge (line E is not in service on weekends and public holidays).

The southbound S-trains departs from track 11 and 12 and the Øresund train from the airport should arrive on track 1 to 4.

Scandic Sydhavnen is located 250 meters from Sydhavn station.

This trip including change of tran at the central station takes 29 minutes.

It is possible to walk to Carlsberg

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/Scandic+Sydhavnen,+Sydhavns+Pl.+15,+2450+K%C3%B8benhavn/Carlsberg+Museum+%26+Business+Centre,+Valby+Langgade/@55.6605879,12.5261863,2151m/am=t/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x46525381d5e8c213:0x7b4406553b3a5090!2m2!1d12.541422!2d55.6545418!1m5!1m1!1s0x4652539092b6f1a7:0x5674cf373e34236c!2m2!1d12.5303933!2d55.6672508!3e2

But else you can take bus 10 towards Brønshøj Torv

Get off at Folehaven and walk over the the bus stop where bus 8A towards Nordhavn departs from.

Get off at Kammasvej then you will find Carlsberg only 250 meters away.

There is no compartment for luggage but there is a low floor area from the front to the middle of the bus where it is possible to store the luggage where you normally would put the babystrollers etc.

A little different question. I'm staying at the Scandic Copenhagen for a few days before my cruise and was wondering if there are any hobby shops nearby? I build and race Radio Control cars and boats and would love to check out a shop while here. Also interested in models and diecast.

I can only find shops out in the suburbs, Herlev, Brøndby, Lyngby and Holte.

The nearest one was in Østerbro almost out where you find your cruiseship. :D

Thanks. Was hoping there was one nearby as I'll be doing sightseeing as a higher priority.

Danish Viking, thank you so much for all the infomation with links and pictures, that you posted. We got off the ship Sunday and have spent the last few days here in Copenhagen. We stayed at the Adina Hotel which was a nice location for scenic waterfront walks. Getting into the areas around Stroeget, Nyhavn and Tivoli was extremely easy using the #26 bus. From Nyhavn we took the water bus to the area around the Little Mermaid and walked back to the hotel from there. We used the 72 hour City Pass which covered all our transportation. Thank you again because all your information made this possible.

Hi Danish Viking,

Reading through your posts has been a huge help. I have a few questions of my own:

1. I'm arriving in Copenhagen at 6:00 on Saturday June 4. We're staying at Ibsens Hotel, and we'll probably want something to eat after dropping off our luggage. It seems that not many restaurants are open on weekend mornings, including Torvehallerne. The hotel offers a breakfast and I found that Cafe Europa 1989 on Strøget opens at 7:45, but both of these options would be pricey. Do you know of any good places for breakfast on a Saturday morning?

2. For other food options that day I am drawn to L'appetit for a good vegetarian lunch and Spisestedet FEED for Smørrebrød for dinner. Do you have any experience with these restaurants?

3. I noticed that CPH Distortion is that week. Will that cause any disruptions around the city center?

4. After our cruise returns, our flight out is at 19:45 the same day. I plan to take the train to Malmö after dropping off our luggage at the airport. I have read that security measures have increased recently. Will it be a problem to make the trip to Sweden, spend a few hours there and then return for our flight?

I need to research some of your questions so I will be back soon.

I don't think Distortion will affect that part of town you are visiting but I will also check up on that.

When visiting sveden you just have to have a valid photo Id.

Top 10 breakfast places

I have no experience with either restaurants and what I found on the internet doesn´t reveal anything.

Regarding CPH Distortion, The Nørrebro street parties is on Wednesday and it seems to be located on the western side of the lakes and your hotel is located on the eastern side.

Thanks for your replies. I found the restaurants on Trip Advisor, but I won't be upset if we end up somewhere else. There are so many great options to choose from. I appreciate you taking the time to look into the other issues.

Mange tak!

Dear Danish viking,

Thanks for all of the helpful advice. We are doing a Baltic Capitals cruise and will be arriving in Copenhagen a day before the cruise. Prior to boarding the ship, our plan is to do the free walking tour. After disembarking on Monday July 4, we will have a full day in Copenhagen and I was thinking about getting the 24 hour Copenhagen card and visiting the following places:

Rosenborg, Amalienborg, and Christiansborg,

Lunch at Torvehallerne

Canal tour

Tivoli

Is this too much to do for one day? Would it be too much to try to do all three castles? Would you suggest any other activities? Also, we are spending the night at the Airport (Hilton), and in order to save time our plan is to store our luggage at Central Station rather than going to the airport to drop off the luggage.

You can fit in all the castles if you start at Rosenborg, be at Amalienborg at noon for the changing of the guard, then go to Kongens Nytorv and take the metro to Nørreport where you find Torvehallerne.

After that you follow the pedestrian street Frederiksborggade/Købmagergade up to Højbro Plads where you will find Christiansborg on the other side of the canal.

After that you can either take a bus directly to Tivoli or take a nice stroll along Strøget from Højbro Plads to the Town hall square.

Tivoli is just next to the Town hall square.

Hi Danish Viking

I have a lot of questions to ask you. This is the itinerary my group plans to do:

Our Cruise is still in August starting at Copenhagen. Somebody recommended that we make restaurant reservations already.

1. We arrive two days before our Cruise, Saturday night. our hotel is Cabinn Scandinavia. Best reasonable place to eat? And what toe eat in that restaurant?

2. Next day, we plan to go to Kronborg Palace and Frederiksborg Palace. We leave around 9:00 am for the train. Reasonable to be back around 5:00 PM? is the Street Food Market far or is it better to go to Torvehallerne. Or another suggested place? We will stop first at our Hotel before searching for food. After Dinner, we want to go to to Tivoli. Can you create route for us, please?

3. Monday - we have a free walking tour at 11:00 AM with Sandeman - need direction on the meeting pint by the way. Is it better to see Rosenborg before the walking tour or after the walking tour. what else do you suggest to see? Canal boat tour? Dinner at a good restaurant. Somebody suggested Petite Pate but we need to make reservation.

Can you create a route for us please.

much much appreciated

but they say that there should be plenty of taxis all the time.

So ask away :D

I am planning my first trip to the Baltic next year, hopefully on the NCL Getaway. This will be most helpful information in planning my cruise. Thanks so much!

There are some good suggestions on this website.

http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/gastronomy/eat-drink

I think CPH Street Food is the better option as Torvehallerne is more like a market place with seating. :D

From your hotel to Street Food

Take the metro from Forum to Christianshavn (direction Vestamager or Lufthavnen)

From Christianshavn you take bus 9A towards Operaen, Holmen and get off at Arsenaløen where CPH Street Food is located.

In order to get to Tivoli you just take bus 9A in the other direction and get off at the central station, Tivoli is just next door.

In order to get back to your hotel you just take bus 250S towards Buddinge or bus 2A towards Tingbjerg and get off at Forum.

The trip to the Palace and castle.

Just take the metro from Forum to Nørreport (same as to Christianshavn) and take S-train line A to Hillerød.

When you get back from Helsingør and Kronborg Castle with the Øresundstog train you simply just get off at Nørreport and take the metro towards Vanløse and get off at Forum.
