There were a few ships that tested discounts out a while back but I haven't read of any recently. Best is just to wait and buy your drink package on board just in case they offer a discount.

Agree...Absolutely...never pre-purchase the drink package...not necessary.

Many that like some drinks during the day or a wider selection beyond the limited Diamond drinks get the package.

If the OP turns diamond during her cruise, she won't be eligible for diamond benefits during that cruise. Cruise credits are awarded when a cruise is completed.

More accurate would be to say the OP will not become diamond during the cruise because no points are awarded until after the cruise.

Thanks for the information. I just completed a cruise on the Vision on Saturday which will give me the points I need to be Diamond on the Harmony. Any tips on making the most of the Diamond level would be appreciated.

Just make sure your balcony discount is applied if you're staying in this category or up. The DL is always a nice feature...but not sure about the location it's going to be on HOTS. We'll be sailing on HOTS in March 2017

You should get a letter in your stateroom listing all of your onboard Diamond perks. One of the nicest is the 3 drink vouchers per evening, which can be used at any bar during the normal Diamond cocktail hour.

Gotta love Royal for making things confusing. I had no problem using my 3 drink coupons in the WJ at dinner last week on the Allure.

 

Just to clarify though I went up to the minibar they had set up with some wine and beer in tubs of ice and they were able to do it. I did not ask a server to do it for me.

 

I was quite surprised. Figured there was no harm in asking.

The diamond drinks are very limited and if you like wine the red wine is awful and the pino gris is just barely drinkable. I would recommend the drink package.

It depends if someone wants to drink during he day. Diamond Club drinks are evening only.
