Rare Keith1010 Posted April 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2016 I also have found Trip Advisor to be an amazing source of information and used the to book several private tours in Asia in 2014 and then for other parts of the world in 2015. deezeee2 Posted November 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Does anyone have any recommendations for private tours for a day and a half in Hong Kong after our cruise. We toured Honk Kong on October 25, 2016. We used the company Tours by Locals, and selected Frank Law as our local guide. We were more than satisfied with Frank! He was knowledgeable and thorough, spoke excellent English, and we appreciated that he remained aware of our time limitations. We will definitely use this company for tours in our traveling future (they offer tours all over the world!) Enjoy your travels!
OlsSalt Posted November 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Hong Kong is so compact and has easy access public transportation. Any thoughts about doing this on your own?

They also have an excellent hop-on hop-off service. Goes to all major points and even a bit out of town.

jmps Posted November 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) We just spent five days in Hong Kong. A self tour is very viable there. The HoHo (BigBus) works great. We combined that with a Octopus card to the EXCELLENT train/ferry/bus system and it worked well. An occasional taxi was not expensive either. Totally agree as have been there many times and liked the HOHO so much, have taken it twice. Would buy the 2-day ticket and on day 1 ride the entire system of routes and get off now and again, then use it as your transportation to what you want to see the 2nd day. It includes several extras like passes to the Victoria Peak tram, a saipan ride, etc. The very cheap ferries and public buses are wonderful (and double-decker) with excellent signage - but have not used the train. Karennella Posted November 28, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 28, 2016 I really cannot think of a more efficient public transport system that we have encountered in the world, except perhaps for Singapore. However the trains can get extremely crowded and you may need to walk quite some way at the stations. i like an occasional tour as i like to have a guide. Most of the tourists in Hong Kong these days are not English speaking so you have to search a bit for English guides and tours.
