How I turned OBC into cash :-0

Thanks for answering my question. I don't mean to sound daft, but I just want to get it right.

Another scenario: say I ask them to put $100 credit on my card. I go to the slots and play and eventually end up losing $50. Can I go cash out the other $50 that's still on the card?

Yes and no, it really depends on how much you have won along the way of losing the money.

Are you joking? With cruise ship's typical version of the standard video payouts you can play perfect strategy and if you play long enough you will surely lose.

Or are you thinking of some of the other video poker games?

Absolutely agree. To be able to win at video poker the payout tables need to be good enough - Celebrity's are not. Also, even with perfect strategy and good payout tables, in order to win you need to play perfectly for a long, long time - much longer than most people would normally spend at the machine on a cruise. Not discouraging nor criticizing the gamblers here - I like to make my donation to the casino each cruise as well:)

If you have OBC put on your card every "bet" you make on the slot is deducted from that amount. Any winnings will be able to be removed from the machine with the bar code slip and used in another machine or cashed in at the cage.

Also I believe once you transfer an amount from your card to a particular machine it has to be played. It can't be returned to the card to be used on another machine.

For example I put 100 on my card. Go to the first machine and transfer $20 to play. I make 10 $1 bets and don't win any spins the remaining $10 has to be played on the machine which I might otherwise want to leave.

This was not the case for us. As soon as I had a strong feeling that we had won a lot more than lost I hit the cashout machine. Each time if we decided to play later the remaining credit stayed on the card for later use on any machine

You can most definitely transfer the Unplayed obc back to the card from the machine when finished, we did this multiple times a few weeks ago...

So.... after much reading on this .. Is the best way with say $200 OBC .. place $100 on red and $100 on black at the same time and get the $200 back which you can then cash in - assumimg 0 doesnt come up.?

Better hope lady luck is at your side. 00 is on the wheel as well.

There's 0 as well as 00 at the top of the roulette table on most common casino tables so you have to factor that into your chances too.

I like to "machine hop". If I win a decent amount on one machine, I hop to the next machine until I get a decent win on that one and continue going. :D DH gets a good laugh at me doing that. :o Good thing I can cut and run whenever I want and the money goes back on the card!

Even if you play a few games and lose, say, $20 of the $100 OBC, you should be able cash out and get $80 back in real cash. Or do you need to come back a winner? (Winning $5 for a total of $105.)

If you only bet $20 of the $100 then the $80 won't be able to cash out... It will go back on the card as promo credit...

If you won $20 while betting then you would be able to cash out the $20 while the $80 goes back to your card for next time... You will have to actually bet the full amount you get put on your card from obc!

My promo chips were not replaced when I won bets on the Constellation in March. This was at roulette and blackjack. I specifically asked both dealers about it, and they only paid winnings in real chips. I kept racking the real chips, and betting only promos. For example, bet $20 promo on BJ, won, kept $20 promo and was paid $20 real. Make sense?

That's exactly how it should work for the tables [emoji4]

But then how do you cash in your promo chips? So you have to bet and lose every promo chip? That doesn't seem fair.

Was on the Connie in March. My promo chips were not replaced with real on winning bets. This was confirmed as policy by both roulette and blackjack dealers when specifically asked.

Went in on the last night to claim as much OBC as I had left. Took promo chips. Went to roulette. Half on black, half on red, ten on green. Won on red. Was paid winnings in real chips, put those aside. Took remaining promo chips (the original amount bet on red) to blackjack. Went on a good streak, kept removing winnings (real chips) and kept betting promos. Again, promos were not replaced. Bet 20 promos, win, 20 promo stays, paid 20 real. Make sense?

Yes, that makes sense, people can only cash out the winnings. Thanks for the example.:D

Fair or not, they are promo chips which are meant to be gambled and not cashed out.

On our January 2016 Eclipse cruise we had $100 of OBC left on the last day and guest relations told us to go to the casino and take it out in cash. We had to pay 5% but giving them $5.00 was better than leaving $100.

Sorry for the double post, my browser crashed and I redid the post.

Anyways, I was surprised they way they handled the promos. However... I had a lot of fun, and I made much more cash than if I had just cashed out my OBC like I did on a previous couple of cruises. My wife was struggling to hold all the real chips I kept passing back to her. As players know, when you are doing well on BJ, hit a few hands in a row with a couple of double downs, and are increasing your bet units with wins... good things can happen ;)
