i go by my middle name and booked under middle name/last name out of habit. even my house deed is first initial /middle/last

i have yet to get my passport but of course it will have first/middle/last on it

will this be an issue getting the ship if the reservation is just middle/last name?

Your reservation should be in the same first name and last name as your passport. It's easy to get your reservation modified to match your passport. Just call NCL if you booked directly or call your travel agent.

i called and name change was easy. i couldnt find any way to do it online nor any emails except guest relations. apparently they dont want you contacting them with email. isnt email cheaper than phone

or maybe phone IS better. more personalized service.

now to get pic taken and get passport

Your airline ticket (if you are flying) also has to match your passport as does your driver's license.

As long as your middle name on the passport matches the name on the reservation you should have no issue, in spite of what other people might think. Since your middle name is identical to the name on the booking your ID would have matched even if you had not changed it.

BTW the names do not have to match exactly, they have to be close enough so that CBP or TSA can be sure that it is the same person.

2nd question...theres a decent chance that 2nd passenger will have address change before october cruise. can i assume with passport that changes like that are irrelevant?

Addresses are not shown on passports, so it is a non issue.

The name on the booking has to match the name on your legal id. Drives my brother Frank crazy because all the staff address him as Francis.

You don't take a chance on things like this when it's so easy just to get the reservation name updated. You "should be okay" isn't good advice.

Poor, poor advice.

As usual.

I know this is different, but I was just unable to add my TSA pre-check info to a flight reservation. Turns out the flight reservation only has one of my 2 middle names. As a result, TSA won't do it because names have to match exactly. Close enough isn't always good enough.

Interesting because Delta has my first name incorrect and TSA never even blinks an eye.

Interesting! Maybe they wouldn't even notice once I'm at the airport, but the system wouldn't let me add it. (I simply called the airline and had them fix my name, so it wasn't an issue).

It doesn't make a difference.

Everyone knows that last name = last name, first name = first name, and middle name = middle name.

If it's wrong, just fix it. Anything else is stupid advice.

Who cares what worked for someone at some TSA counter somewhere?

This is such a DUH topic. Breathe through your nose, people, not your mouth.

I might also add that the name on the credit card you use for on board charges also has to match your passport and ticket name. For example and from experience, Bobby and Robert were not close enough.

Most are breathing through a third unnamed orifice - and it shows.

Exactly. I fixed it once, and since I just make sure they match. It's no big deal, and better safe than sorry. Especially when we are talking about something that takes seconds.

Using your legal name on everything when it comes to travel and legal matters is just common sense. I work in the mortgage business, it still amazes me the # of people who think using their nick name or whatever is acceptable.

You will never have an issue if you are using your legal name. Not sure why its so hard.

peace out,

rusty

when i did a refi i asked and they said my name can be anyway i want it so i did first initial middle last on my deed.

and health insurance people always gave me crap when i called and told them my name because i used my middle name . they acted like it wasnt my name. so i went to HR and had my name changed to first initial middle last and when i called insurance from then on they didnt say a word

i believe we have a right to be called what we want and that just because we are given a first name doesnt mean we have to use it. agrees c everett koop

This is certainly NOT true...... my parents that it would be really cool to name me "E. Scott", they thought having an initial for the first name would be distinguished, etc ... my credit cards either say "E S" or "Scott" or "E Scott" or "E" and not one time did I have an issue. My name has even appeared as one word "EScott" and still not an issue...

All the while NCL and CAS has me as "E"... because the land-based casino, that provided me with the original promotional certificate, took my driver's license and the woman entered "E" when doing my Rewards Card yet my "travel specific" credit card is just plain "Scott"

I really don't want to argue with you, but it is true because it did happen at check in. Had to use the other passenger's card, because the names did not match. Bobby and Robert were not close enough. The names had to match. Again, why risk it? Just have names match..as others have recommended.

No arguement from me at all..... I am 52 and my personal experience over 35 years of credit card use and dealing with "E", I have never had to use someone else's credit card or turned away from an airline, hotel or cruise reservation because my name was not exact.

I agree with consistency but in my case... simple forms everyone takes for granted with "First Name, Middle Initial" ..... well that is "E S" for me..... yet my driver's license and passport is "E Scott" but NCL reservations, etc has me as "E" (Scott is nowhere to be seen on anything concerning them)

The only time "E Scott" is typically used is if I mess up and the wife uses the full name very slowly.... =D

Maybe the person looking at it just feels badly for me that I have had to put up with that... lol
