jgraff426 Posted April 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2016 We reserved an over the water cabana for the day we are in Labadee. It just dawned on me...what happens if you reserve a beach cabana and it rains on the day you're in port? Are we simply out-of-luck and have to make the best of it? I know rain in the tropics can go just as frequently as it came, but at $450, I don't want to throw that $$ down the drain. Thanks in advance -- think sunny! SuiteTraveler Posted April 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2016 You might use the internet to check the weather forecast for Labadee two days ahead on weather.com - look up Port-au-Prince Haiti for a 5 day weather forecast. If it is going to be raining, then you can cancel in advance with no penalty.

I believe once onboard you have 24 hours to cancel and that will be credited back to you as OBC. I would wait and make that decision onboard. donaldsc Posted April 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Have you asked your cruise company? Seems like they should know better than we do. DON
leaveitallbehind Posted April 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Have you asked your cruise company? Seems like they should know better than we do. DON As a private docking destination of RCI all port of call activities and excursions are ship sponsored and not sub-contracted. The cancellation policy for excursions was correctly described by Ashland. If the ship cancels an activity, the money would be returned. If a guest cancels day of, the money would likely be applied to another excursion later in the cruise if possible. The ship will stop at Labadee whether it is raining or not - unless the weather prevented a safe docking, at which point the excursion / activity cost would be returned. Even if it is raining, most of the off ship activities would still be conducted unless safety was an issue. But if the day is a complete washout, then perhaps they may make a ship board judgement call on behalf of the passengers with the cost of the excursions given back as an OBC. Not sure if there is a firm policy in place for that, however. But unless it is a large system most rain showers would likely be brief so it may not be an issue. It actually has never rained in the many times we've been there. Edited April 22, 2016 by leaveitallbehind
cb at sea Posted April 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Unless the ship can't stop at a port, rain won't stop your cabana purchase! Your cabana will keep you dry in the rain! You do know there is plenty of shade on the beach, without paying for a shelter???? Edited April 22, 2016 by cb at sea
