CAS change re: benefits accruing to upgrades

I thought I had posted this before, but can't find it....so to err on the side of ensuring it's known:

 

 

Apparently CAS has had a recent change in the way they accord benefits relative to cabin type - as pertains to upgrades from comp. rooms.

 

 

Previously in a situation like Freestyle Choice, if you were comped a mini-suite, you got the attendant number of Promo choices as a typical mini-suite, regardless of whether you upgraded to a higher category cabin.

 

 

Now, at least until April 24th (when current promo expires, I believe), you get the same number of promos as your upgraded cabin.

 

 

I upgraded to a suite, and was offered all 4 choices, even though my comp. was only a mini-suite.

 

 

Also, until the end of August, you can use 2 CruiseNext (Future Cruise Reward) certificates on a single booking (not sure if only for suite?)

 

 

 

This is a huge change, for the positive.... it's going to make our trip on the Jade for my birthday that much more enjoyable!

That is good news. Finally CAS did something favorable with a change. We leave on our cruise in one week hooray!!!

I just returned on Sunday from a comped oceanview where I upgraded to the DOS. We did not get the 4 promos.

 

I'm sure that's exactly why the OP is here mentioning it... because it's a brand new change.

 

On our recent cruise we also received only the perks of our comp, despite upgrading to the Haven. I'm thrilled to pieces that this is changing - as it should!

I just booked about 10 days ago. I was only comped an inside and I upgraded to a balcony. They only allowed the one. Is CAS open on the weekend? Thanks

This is a number I have for CAS that says it works weekends 10:30am to 7:00pm EST. It's 1-888-785-8259.

Excellent news - and just what I've been waiting for! My CAS rep that I booked my Breakaway cruise with told me that this would be happening 'soon.' Looks like I'll be calling to upgrade from my aft balcony to a Haven suite this week. Yippee! :D

I *think* this new policy just applies to Haven upgrades. I upgraded from mini-suite to Haven on a booking recently and received all 4 perks (no added 18%), but a friend upgraded from inside comp to balcony and only received her initial 1 perk.

 

Interested to know what folks hear back from CAS!

I can confirm change only applies to Haven upgrades. I upgraded comp inside to balcony and only 1 perk. Price quoted for Haven upgrade with full 4 perks was not very competitive IMO... Seems prior CAS discounts no longer apply for Haven and final price would have been almost as high as regular price on ncl.com

Suites are exempt from the 18% gratuity for the UBP.

Well, I paid $1200 pp for the upgrade to a front-facing penthouse - on a European sailing (usually more expensive).

 

For that, I got 250 minutes internet, $200 in ShoreEx discounts ($50/per port), UDP for 3 nights (per person), and UBP.

 

Those benefits alone are almost worth $1200..... let alone that I get the upgrade from mini-suite to full suite.

Called CAS and tried to upgrade to Suite. Was told by the rep I won't get all the promos because I was only comp an inside room. It might be because my free comp was from local casino not directly from CAS. I will try again next week. It

Yes, this only applies to CAS comps, not local casino comps.

Apologies for going off topic here but you guys are so knowledgable about the CAS program I know you'll know this! (I searched older boards with conflicting info). After getting off the Getaway in March I am 1 measly point away from Platinum and am heading off on my first CAS comp cruise in June. Will I get my 1 point? I'm trying to catch up with my mom who is my cruise buddy and cheated on me by taking my aunt in her first cruise last year, so she went Platinum after the GA, I'm hoping I'll catch up? Thank you!

I was comped a Balcony through CAS on the Escape for Oct. I upgraded to a Haven and at the time I only got to pick 2 of the offers...Are you guys saying this has now changed and if I call I would get all 4? Are they also now including gratuities this route as well?
