djhsolara Posted May 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2016 We're sitting in the priority boarding area waiting to be called onboard. They told us that as of 11:00, there were still 600 people onboard. Not a good way to start a cruise. And...is it really Priority Boarding when your lounge holds several hundred (300-500) people????

sanmarcosman Posted May 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2016 With that many sleeping in it was probably a whole or partial charter sailing with music being a common denominator :)

Pyrate13 Posted May 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I don't know, if you're getting to board before 90% or more of the passengers, to me that's priority.

DonnaMW Posted May 1, 2016 #10 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Well at least on Thursday. We don't have to hurry off no next cruise. And yes we went on immediately after wedding party and just getting lunch now. Never saw so many people in the main check in lobby. All people no floor space. Wow. I see you're on the 4-day Breeze sailing. Great ship!! However if you're worried about the little things prior to even boarding, I can't wait to read what you have to say after a 4-day voyage of everyone rushing around like crazy; along with a spring break booze cruise atmosphere & mentality. I'm certain the crew is not looking forward to this particular sailing. Edited May 1, 2016 by ObstructedView2
Bookbug53 Posted May 1, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Priority numbers can vary greatly from cruise to cruise. Depends on Diamond/Platinum, how many bought FTTF, wedding parties, etc. Just be grateful that you are part of the 10%. As for how many are still on board, when did debarkation start? Was it delayed? And why should they rush off if not pushed to do so? They deserve every cruise minute! 11 does not seem that late since generally everyone is now told to come later. Usually around 1-1:30. It is just that no one listens. ;) And the best way to start a cruise is to be happy you are going! :D
bakersdozen12 Posted May 1, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) Over 10% of passengers does not equate to priority...at least in my world. Well, what do you want them to do? Change it so that only Diamonds get priority boarding? The fact is, as time goes on there will be more and more Platinums. So it's going to feel less and less exclusive in the priority boarding section. The only resolution is to remove Platinums from the mix, and I can only imagine the uproar that will cause. HawkIVette Posted May 1, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I can see his/her point. You pay for FTTF and you shouldn't have to wait. They should serve you free drinks until you get to your room. Maybe even announce over the PA system when you step aboard. I am Platinum and expect to be treated this way. I am even a shareholder. I think that I should be FIRST on board and trumpets sound as I am escorted aboard by the Captain.

Your priority status is no different than the potential 499 others who have similar status, including me. So yes, it's STILL Priority Boarding. Perhaps you should stand by the debarkation ramp and harass those stragglers who dared to delay your embarkation. Give them a real what-for and appease your frustration. Trot over to Guest Services and demand compensation for the "lost" time on board. Be sure to flash that priority boarding pass to all as you stomp through the terminal so they know exactly who you are. Enjoy being avoided by everyone the rest of the cruise. RuthlessBoss Posted May 2, 2016 #23 Share Posted May 2, 2016 I'm surprised some haven't added to this thread. As I was skimming older threads, there is one started by keith74 and someone indicated the hold up was because of a charter by the Tom Joyner foundation. Someone posted this is their 4th year and are noted for delaying getting off.
