supercanadian Posted May 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2016 I'm not a huge gambler, but I figure we will make a trip to the casino at some point during the trip. Does anyone have any tips for getting the most bang for your buck here? Promos? Are there Slot Tournaments? If so, how much is the entry fee? Also, I saw an old posting about a $5 match play offer they used to have with purchase of classic cocktails. Is this still available? Thanks! OllieGator Posted May 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2016 I'd highly recommend looking at the Cruise Casino board for information about all things casino on a cruise. Based on what I have read, Carnival no longer offers the $5 match play certificate with the purchase of a Classic Cocktail.

Thanks! http://www.carnival.com/onboard/tournaments There are usually 2 slot tournaments, each on a sea day, and it will be announced by the CD as well as listed in the FT schedule. I believe it is $20 or $25 to enter, if you are a Plat or Diamond you get one free entry with a paid one. I used to do the slot tournaments when it was plain free for plats, and I have 4 tee shirts from being in the final round. Never won the $500 top prize though. There will also be a BJ tournament - blackjack or 21 that is. I think the match play is offered on a coupon somewhere, not necessarily a drink promo anymore. Good luck! Micahs Grandad Posted May 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Best way to save money in the casino is to avoid it especially slots where payout is awful. If you must gamble BJ offers best odds if you know basic blackjack theory.
Salt Wind Posted May 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Greetings!! :D Welcome to the board! :D Don't tip at the casino, though, the tables and machines are rigged in the house favor, anyway!:(

Micahs Grandad Posted May 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Remember the house always wins! And if you play a lot of slots you can get free drinks. Of course they might be the most expensive free drinks in the world though:)

What does vary is the payout percentage in each casino.
cmukid87 Posted May 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2016 If you are familiar with blackjack and the best practices, Carnival has at least one table that has a few interesting rules that have proven pretty profitable for me.

Micahs Grandad Posted May 12, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Bet max on slots. Anything less is a waste of time. Does that allow you to get rated for free drinks and free cruise?

I have never lost on any cruise .In December 2015 I was on a RCI cruise and won $847 on one spin. I do not normally win that much but I have averaged about $100 on every cruise . I found this machine(see picture) and it paid out every time! :p
JaniceB Posted May 12, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 12, 2016 I always drank the Carnival Classic cocktails for the match play, sad to hear the coupons are gone.

cdamion Posted May 12, 2016 #16 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Does that allow you to get rated for free drinks and free cruise? As far as slots go, you get rated automatically based upon the amount of money you put in and that will get you the free drinks. I have gotten the free cruise offer and I certainly don't bet maximum on slots, I did have a good trip once and gambled a ton, but it was (mostly) their money. I feel like the free cruise is almost random because people I know that gamble far more than me never got the offer, yet I did. Best I can hope for these days is a slight discount (which I happily will use).

kayhold Posted May 13, 2016 #18 Share Posted May 13, 2016 I always go and play the penny slots. I don't expect to win anything, nor do I care. I like the entertainment, I like people watching, and betting more would exhaust the amount I budget for casino much quicker and kill my fun.
