MIJOY Posted May 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2016 We will be on the Equinox to the Caribbean 12/09/16, our first cruise with Celebrity. Usually use Princess. We don't drink alcohol and I prefer to not drink bottled water, so really don't want to purchase a drink package. We do like a couple of cups of good coffee. Princess has a coffee card that fits our needs. Does Celebrity have something like that? Is ship coffee drinkable or will I need to buy specialty coffees every day? Jerzy Traveler Posted May 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Celebrity now used Lavazza as their coffee. Pretty good.
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2016 No coffee card. No one can tell you if you will like their standard coffee, if you don't you can always buy espresso based coffee in Cafe al Bacio.
ECCruise Posted May 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Find the Lavazza coffee OK but not overly special. Try it and it may be just fine for you. Buying coffee in Cafe al Bacio can get pretty expensive.
Ox Fan Cruiser Posted May 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2016 we sailed on the Reflection a few months ago. The new coffee was MUCH better than the battery acid they gave out on our other Celebrity cruises we took a few years ago.
BBsails Posted May 30, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) We were on the Eclipse in April/May. I found the strength of the Lavazza in the buffet varied from day to day and even from pot to pot on the same day. At times it was excellent--as good at that found in Al Bacio, which was a happy surprise--and at other times it was as weak as dishwater. YMMV. Good luck! MustBCruzn Posted May 30, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 30, 2016 We just got off the Solstice and were very pleasantly surprised by the Lavazza coffee. It was comparable to the coffee in Cafe al Bacio (which has always been my "go to" place for coffee). I normally get the Premium Non-Alcoholic Beverage Package for my Cafe al Bacio fix, but with Lavazza I won't need to do that next time.

It is because the water pressure will vary from time to time around the ship.
GUT2407 Posted May 31, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Some like it, some don't.
morbihan Posted May 31, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2016 I am pleased that others found the coffee so variable. Some days it was delicious. Some days I wondered if they had forgotten to put the coffee in. It is certainly better than previous years muck.
Tommy3putts Posted May 31, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) I always take along some packets of Starbucks Via just if case no matter where I travel. I add it to the coffee served in Oceanview. It turns out pretty good. Haven't tried the Lavazza. Tom Edited May 31, 2016 by Tommy3putts
norn iron Posted May 31, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Celebrity now used Lavazza as their coffee. Pretty good. I agree, it is pretty good coffee. Lavazza is probably the best of all the Italian mass market brands, yet, it is still family owned.
