Guacamole and margarita making class at sabor

Recommended Posts

Saw this listed on Oasis when I was there last month-Going on Freedom in December-saw it offered on the compass for Sabor, also. The cost was $30. Has anyone done this? Worth the money? Fun? Thanks-Melinda

Ahoy oldmom

We have never been offered this option, so it must be a fairly new offer.

Their Margarita's alone are $12-15 in Sabor's normally. I did read someone on these posts talking about it, and they really liked it.

We have eaten in Sabor's many times. You will find that the lunch on the Freedom is less expensive then the dinner menu. It's almost the same menu. Sabor's is open for lunch on sea days on the Freedom.

I say go for it. I would rather spend the money for the class then donating it to the casino..... I am sure that what you make, you will be able to eat or drink it.....

FYI, the margaritas and guacamole are prepared at the table when dining at Sabor. Our server explained each step and provided the recipes. I make the guacamole using their recipe frequently. My previous recipe was excellent, but I really prefer Sabor's. Yummy - as was the entire dinner.

We did this on FOS in April and loved it! Yes we know how to make guac and margaritas! The recipes are great to take home though! Our kids also really liked making the guac. They also gave us an avocado tool to take home. We thought it was well worth it!

Do we really need to take a class on how to make Guac & Margaritas?

Pretty basic stuff.

What's next? Ice Tea brewing & Lemonade squeezing..

Nope, just something fun to do. I don't need to go to wine tasting events,

since I spent 12 years in the business, but I still love to go to them. ;)

This sounds new. Could be worth it, especially if its new. If if gets popular, they will start driving the bottom line a little more (all access tours) I hope you do this and report back.

The idea is to do something fun and different and the guacamole at Sabor is a little tangy plus the margarita's, if you choose to get one, can be a jalapeño margarita, yummm.

Just one persons opinion. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

Haven't seen a useful post from you yet. Troll blocked.

For the margaritas did they include making the Sweet and Spicy?

Do you basically make a sample flight of Margaritas and get to have each one? Or do you get one full sized one? What do you end up with at the end of the class?

For guac mash up avocados, add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, some lime juice, and cilantro.

So can we haggle for more margarita?:D

Last week on the Explorer, they offered a mexican lunch and hosted a how to make guacamole session. It was a lot of fun. I know how to make guacamole but the chef taught us how to cut open an advocado and take the seed out. I have always peeled it and cubed it. He also used a white onion vs a red onion and a regular tomato vs a roma tomato and explained why he uses them rather than the types we use. The luncheon was very nice and I have to say the guacamole was delicious.

We did the Sabor class in June on the Freedom of the seas. We had a great time, they fed us lunch which included 4 appetizers one of which was your guacamole as well as an entree. We had all the margaritas we wanted and got the tool to make the guacamole. It was well worth the $30, however when the class was over we were told they would only charge $20 each and give us one tool for the two of us because they were running out of the tool. We simply asked if we could still have 2 tools because that was the main reason we took the class and they did give us each one. They sell the tool for making guacamole separately for $20.
