2016familycruise Posted July 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2016 We are on Freedom now (woohoo) and having a great time. I have a few questions. We received a certain amount of OBC per stateroom (from booking through a warehouse Travel agency). As I am looking at our account in the TV this is how it is listed: INDIV VOUCHER CREDIT, then the amount with a negative balance. 1. How do I tell if it is refundable or non-refundable? I'm assuming it's non-refundable. 2. Also it is only listed under the name of one person in the room. If my husband charges something, will it go against the room account (he has a zero balance under his name and the OBC is showing under my name)? 3. Assuming it's non-refundable and we don't use it all, I can cash it out at the casino, correct? I know there is a 5% convenience fee. So if I have $100 left over, I should ask for $95. How exactly do I do that (sorry, I don't go to casinos so I have no idea what to do). Thanks in advance!!

If you are setup with one credit card to pay your account it will draw from the OBC regardless if your Seapass our your husbands. 3. Go to the casino cashier and ask for $95 cash, hand over your Seapass. 105% of 95 is $99.75. Don't forget to blow your last quarter in a slot machine ;) Others may have better ways to cash out that OBC without the 5% penalty but it has been a while since I've cashed out OBC on Royal. pinkrosesdeb Posted July 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2016 We were not allowed to cash out in the casino unless we were going to play the cash in the casino. Not sure if this still applies.
molly361 Posted July 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) If you cash out at the casino do not mention that you want to cash out unused OBC. Just ask them for $100 and hand them your Sea Pass Card. They will then charge $105 to your account. Edited July 5, 2016 by molly361
Merion_Mom Posted July 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Depending on the ship, they may give you a "coupon" or "voucher" to put into the slot machine, not cash. Just go over to a slot machine, play once (or more), cash out, take THAT voucher to the cash-out machine, and you will get cash. :)
KimKTN Posted July 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Just got off of the ship Sunday. :( On Saturday night I went to get printouts of the account for our two rooms. I didn't realize we had credits. They told us they were non-refundable. One room had $190. The other $56. I bought a purse at the MK store. Hubby used the $56 at the casino and (luckily) ended up cashing out evenly after playing a while for about $50. If I would have thought about it, I probably would have done the cashing out for the $190 because the purse I wanted ended up costing me $80 extra. :) Oh well....It's vacation, right?! Peachy59 Posted July 5, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Any time we've had OBC from a TA it has been refundable, but they won't give it to you until the last day. Last time, when I went to GS to ask for it, I was told it was not refundable, but I knew better and insisted that it was. The lady had to ask someone else and then was told to refund it to us. Apparently she was new and didn't know better. It is my understanding, only OBC from Royal is not refundable.

Would have been nice if it would have been! But....cashing in at casino works, too, if you find it definitely isn't.
cb at sea Posted July 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Only the cruise line gives "unrefundable" OBC.
pinkrosesdeb Posted July 5, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 5, 2016 We were told we could only "cash out" the amount of money we won. We could not cash out the amount they put on the card. I asked several different people and got the same answer. You had to play the total amount and then could keep your winnings.

I definitely don't want to end up having to play it all at the casino?
