Explorer Pre Maiden photos

Recommended Posts

The ship looks so luxurious in photographs that it is easy to assume that it was designed with the very wealthy in mind. IMO, the Regent Suite is definitely not for the typical Regent passengers. On the other hand, pricing for some Explorer cruises are actually less money than on the other ships (those are the ones that we are booked on:)) For instance, the suite we are booked into for the maiden Explorer Crossing in November and the crossings in March and November 2017 are considerably less expensive than the Voyager cruise we will be doing in 2018 (and most Voyager or Mariner cruises in 2017).

I won't be able to figure out if the passengers are similar to those on a "typical" Regent cruise since the Christening Cruise (am currently in the lounge in Vancouver waiting to board our first flight) are almost all TA's, investors, employees and friends and family of Regent employees. I'll get a better feel for the ship in November (where, BTW, we have the best group of CC'ers on Roll Call that I have ever seen -- all friendly -- everyone gets along well).

In any case, according to a dear friend that you met onboard the Mariner, you would fit in anywhere. Hopefully you will like the photos of the category "H" suites on the Explorer.

Interesting thoughts!

1. It'll be fun to look back in a few years and consider whether or not the Regent Suite was a plus or minus for Regent - they gave up a lot of prime space for it. Wonder if the new Crystal ship will have such.

2. The apparent price advantages on some Explore cruises (versus Mariner and Voyager) might be due to where she sails compared to Voyager. The "free" business air has really increased the prices a lot! I wonder how Regent will handle discounts on cruises that don't sell well.

3. I can't characterize the "typical" Regent passengers; but I know we enjoy their company immensely!

Just hope I get to spend a lot of days on this beautiful ship so I can contemplate the answers.

Two of the Explorer's "least expensive cruises" are over Thanksgiving. Since this is family time for many it makes it less of a good time to travel and a reason why the cruises are a better deal. Great luck for some and a bummer for us.

Off topic alert - Deep Freeze, we shared a Prime Seven dinner on your first Regent cruise. Glad you find Regent as enjoyable as we do.

To partially answer you above question, just today received an e-mail for Explorer sailings later this fall and they are discounting Business Air and providing about $400 OBC for 6 different cruises from October thru December. Do not know if they are discounting the prices of the cruises but, Business Air is not included in all suite categories for these cruises. Believe included Business Air begins sometime later in 2017
