Celebrity Century.... Mid 20's, will I be bored?

I am in my mid 20's and will be travelling on Celebrity Century with my girlfriend and 2-3 other couples. Is this going to be an atmosphere tailored to 40+ like i've been reading everywhere? I want to be able to enjoy the more luxury type cruise than offered other places but I don't want to be the only 6-8 people trying to make a party out of this trip. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone witness a reasonable nightlife on this ship???

thank you.

It's tough to have it both ways. Celebrity being a little more upscale is a bit more subdued than some lines. There are bars open late in the evening plus other late night activities, but most will not be jumping with people. Does this mean you will be bored? that's up to you. If you have already planned on the cruise it really doesn't make much sense to worry about this now. Just go, expect to have a good time and you will. NMnita

just trying to make sure i'm not headed to the "wrong" place for me. I'll make the best of anything, especially if i'm on my way to the virgin islands. I'm talking some others into joining me so i'm trying to find out more before i talk them into something that may not be in their best interest.

Hi Rosie...I so agree with your statement:)

To the original poster, I have sailed Century 3 times and would sail

her again in a heartbeat. Now of course I am an old 47;) ....but she will always be

my favorite ship.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

You are asking sort of a subjective question though...I have never been

bored, though I am not the type of person who always has to be "doing something".

Anyway, enjoy your cruise!

i'm really not worried about being bored, i just worded it wrong i guess. it IS all about what you make of it. i sailed on a princess ship that seems like it may have been a similar atmosphere and it was great. I just wonder if i'm dragging my other young friends into a slower paced cruise than they would like. ???

Have you seen a good bid of activity at the bars later in the evening or is it pretty quiet???

Hmmm.... I can't recall to be honest. I always have late seating and sometimes close the dining room;) I am not always on the lookout for

late night activities.

On Century there is the Hemisphere Lounge.....disco with a DJ. You can

check that out. One of my cruises had alot of folks dancing...while it

was not so busy another cruise.

They have shows in the theater too. And Karoke as well.

I love Celebrity but I do know people who prefer the nightlife of Royal.

For me, well I love being pampered and that is how I feel on X.

We started cruising X in our late 20's because we wanted a little step up from RCL. We loved it from the start. Like "Chessbriar" by the time we go to dinner, a show, and "donate" in the casino, it is 2AM. Even though we are now more MATURE (mid-30s):p , we are never bored. We like to go to a bar late at night to have a drink and we are never the only ones there (even at 1AM). I'm sure you will have fun. We still cruise RCL (usually when we have lots of family in tow), but we have also sailed Century twice with our son (6 years old) and plenty of folks of all ages on her. Of the Celebrity ships, Century (IMHO) has the "youngest" crowd.

Hi Lois! :D

I have personally seen people partying it up at 2AM in bars on several of the Celebrity ships. You won't be alone! The DJ will continue the music as long as people are dancing and the bartenders pour as long as pax are drinking! I tend to think the 7 night cruises are a little more "partying" than the longer cruises because of the age---more "older" folks tend to take the longer cruises & there are a lot of nights so not every night is party time!:D

I wouldn't worry about the age of the other passengers. Cruise ships are fun and you should have a great time.

DH and I went on the old Rotterdam for our honeymoon 13 years ago and I think that thier were 10 people on the whole ship under the age of 80. (We were 25 and 28, back then) Well I'm exaggerating a little about the ages of the PAX, but We had a fantastic time!!!!!

On Mercury 2003, it was a T-Giving holiday sailing, so there were more people in the 20-50 bracket (We'll call them the young ones) and we had a great time in the Disco till 2 am sometimes. Heck on the last formal night a group who had not yet been to the disco wanted to go, they were in their early to mid 60's. We all danced an hung out together, and I think that this was the most fun night.

I am not sure what that one poster was saying about being bored, but as long as you are open to making things fun, you'll have a great time.

Hey Dayoon,

I have been on Century 3 times and aways had a great time. I have been in the bars at 2. The dance club isn't like a NY club, but I have seen it busy. Me personally, I like to go to bed about 12 if we are going into port the next day. I really don't want to sleep half the day away and miss the islands because I was up all night. I think you will have a great time!!

hey, you've got a group of 6 friends...so you've already got a party, right? When we went last year, my boyfriend was 29 and I was 34. We had an awesome time. I agree the discos are a little more happening on RCL, but we've always had more fun on Celebrity! You're gonna love it.

I am currently 25 and have been on Century twice (going again in Dec.), her sister ship - Galaxy and the Infinity. Honestly, I got into the most "trouble" on the Galaxy, but I have had no problem finding a nightlight on Century either. My siblings and I did have a little bit of trouble on the Infinity - but that was an Alaskan sailing so it is different from the Caribbean. You will have a blast! There is nothing more romantic and fun than a Caribbean cruise with friends and your girlfriend!

Generally this will not be a party crowd..that in fall, said it depends when you are going & length of trip--on Connie to New Eng some 2o yr olds were really alone--no one showed up for any single events at all.. at other times on other ships it has been a great time--usually around spring break when young couples & singles are on vacation--but it has never been known to "rock". we love it & it's enough fun for us with the party band but 20 was three decades ago for us--I'd try Royal Vooyager class for the party!

Our 26 year old daughter came with us on the Summit to Alaska...a cruise which draws an even older demographic than Caribbean cruises. I must say she likes to party and decided to go with the flow since her dream was to go to Alaska. Did she have fun??? Fun is an understatement. She learned very early on in the cruise that while the regular crew members can't 'party' with the passengers, the officers can party and party they do! She had the time of her life!

Bethany found the best nightlife at the disco every evening. That's where the officers seem to gather late in the evening. She still talks about the great time she had!

So don't worry about the older croud on Celebrity...I'm sure you will have a wonderful time!

SEPyle stole my post :) About ten years ago we sailed on a ten day southern Caribbean cruise with our then 8 year old daughter (we were in our mid 30s. We were by far the youngest people on the cruise and she was the ONLY child. It turned out to be one of our all time best cruises. The crew loved us (even the captain) and our daughter had the children's staff person all to herself. She got to go places and do things she never would have on a typical cruise. That goes for us, too. While the average crew member doesn't socialize with passengers, officers, entertainers, etc. do. It may be just you and then in the disco at night but that's OK. You'll have a great time.

By the way, we've sailed Century twice (and most of the other Celebrity ships). I've always thought that all the talk about passengers age and whether you can have a good time is blown out of proportion. I've been on Royal Caribbean ships where the disco is dead at midnight and on Celebrity ships where we've been out till the middle of the night. Your fun is what you make it. And there will be plenty of fun people on Century to have a great time with! You already have a great start with the six of you.

Have a fabulous cruise!

IME and IMO, Celebrity is definitely a more subdued line. Entertainment options are more limited than on RCI and other I have sailed. Daytime activities are also more limited.

I think whether or not you and your friends will enjoy Celebrity is dependent on what you enjoy doing. I enjoy Celebrity's food and service but have found entertainment options to be lacking for my taste. I love live music and dancing and the clubs on my sailings have been pretty empty fairly early. If your idea of fun includes shows and a martini or two after dinner with friends (old and new) I think you would be fine.

Personally, I suggest you cruise on RCI as I think their actitivities will be more in tune to your desires and that will have a far greater chance of meeting folks your age who like to have a good time. JMHO.
