DesrtDrmr Posted July 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2016 Quick ??? In April of 2015 we were in a suite on Royal Princess. We never had a pillow chocolate. We're on Princess again this fall and wondered if Princess had done away with these. I know everyone but me knows, :-), but I couldn't find a thread about it on search. That seems like an odd miss on the ship, was on the Regal in April and had them every night. They're not gone.

USN59-79 Posted July 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2016 I would be interested to know if anyone actually eats them when received. I don't really want to eat a chocolate just before going to bed. So we save them and bring them home and eat a couple after dinner. When they are gone it is time to book another cruise! Actually, I like the hard mints given out after you leave the dining room. I bring a bunch home and keep some in the car when driving.

Rare dickinson Posted July 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2016 We like them and mostly eat them that evening before brushing our teeth. Occasionally we eat them sometime during the next day. We would miss them if they were gone.
Colo Cruiser Posted July 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 23, 2016 I remember when my boys would fall asleep with some in the bed and they would be melted all over everything by morning.

Sea Day Cruiser Posted July 23, 2016 #17 Share Posted July 23, 2016 The dark chocolate square one is my favorite. I always take them home too because eating them at home makes the cruise seem a little bit longer.

idahospud Posted July 23, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 23, 2016 I mentioned to a room steward one night how much I liked the hearts. After that, every time it was chocolate heart nights on the cruise I came back to the cabin to find several (instead of the standard two) left on the bed. caribill Posted July 23, 2016 #20 Share Posted July 23, 2016 Princess took a survey earlier this year asking if it would be better to discontinue the chocolates as they are now and have instead a special chocolate on the pillow only on formal evenings. flamomo Posted July 23, 2016 #23 Share Posted July 23, 2016 JMO, but I suspect the idea of doing away with the nightly chocolates is tied to the Norman Love thing. Maybe those overpriced candies are not selling as well as Princess was led to believe they would when they contracted with Mr Love, and they are hoping if Passengers get an occasional "free" taste of them they will buy more. LOL! Some Princess traditions need NOT to be messed with, especially our NIGHTLY chocolates!! I hope you're you listening, Princess!!
omc329 Posted July 23, 2016 #24 Share Posted July 23, 2016 I always liked getting my nightly chocolate. Sometimes I eat one, and other times I pop it in the luggage for the long trip home. I never buy candy at home, and it is a real sweet treat for me. :)

They took out the underutilized chocolate shop I believe it was on the Emerald or Crown?? I never saw even 1 person in there shopping. They never offered even as much as 1 tiny scrap of chocolate for a taste either. The only samples of Godiva chocolate we even had on a ship was at a Capt party one evening. :)
