-Lew- Posted August 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Go with the itinerary you most prefer. You'll enjoy cruising on either ship...
skynight Posted August 5, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Basically, you have to choose based on the itinerary. The Regal will take about 2 1/2 days to reach the tropics and the rest of the cruise will be in warm weather. October in the Caribbean is hurricane season. The CA Coastal visits some nice ports, but will not be a tropic weather cruise. You should enjoy either ship.
islandatsea Posted August 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2016 We would choose the cruise based on the itinerary you would enjoy the most. Both ships we have cruised on and would do so again.
OCruisers Posted August 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2016 No problem with either ship .... BUT had rather do 10 days than 7.
satxdiver Posted August 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2016 The 10 day cruise on the Regal, a newer ship, is way better than 7 day cruise on the Ruby any day. There are a lot of differences between the ships so look at the deck plans. One suggestion for either ship is not to get a stateroom under the lido deck public areas. Be aware that August to October is the height of hurricane season with the majority of storms happening in those three months.

Tatka Posted August 6, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Is this true? I hope so as my parents picked Regal over another cruise line ship remembering how great Caribbean princess was, and I am getting mixed reviews.

Rare abbydancer2003 Posted August 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Personally, I'd do the Ruby, but the Promenade deck and dance floors are very important to me.
john_galt Posted August 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2016 We have avoided the larger ships. I know the new ships are beautiful but I think the Grand is just about the right size. However, we stepped up to the larger Crown because of the early April date. It's just a matter of taste but for us, the smaller the better.
