tbmrt Posted August 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2016 We really want to see Quest, the Comedy Club, dance in the nightclubs, etc. on our Oasis cruise. However, in the past, after a busy day at the beach, pool, snorkeling, etc., we're usually too pooped to stay out late. To us the Oasis is more about the ship than the ports so we're hoping to be able to relax a bit and perhaps even take an afternoon nap (usually not able to do this!) Do many of you manage to squeeze in a nap during your cruise or just push yourselves to "do it all"??
poz222 Posted August 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Napping is part of the vacation! We do late dining so we can squeeze in a post-port nap...
deepcman Posted August 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2016 We saw the quest equivalent on Carnival. Now that was worth staying awake for.😆. Much younger crowd with piercings and tattoos in interesting spots.
MLBFan24 Posted August 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2016 With early dining, I can usually squeeze in a quick nap beforehand. Maybe shower, shave, etc at around 4:30 pm. Take a quick nap and when I wake up, all I have to do is put on the appropriate clothing (formal, casual) for dinner at 6 pm. There aren't many activities to do at 4:30 PM on a port day anyways. cincicruisers Posted August 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2016 With all the sun and busy port days we try to nap a bit in late afternoon. Love a good nap on vacation. When we first started cruising we did not want to miss anything so we were up and busy until we fell into bed. We needed a vacation from non stop action. Over time we learned to relax more and not worry if we missed an activity.

NECruiser83 Posted August 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Nothing is better than the mid afternoon balcony nap in the hammock.:) Do you bring your own hammock? And if so, is it a specific kind? I would love one for our cruise, will be my first time in a balcony :)
Poohb Posted August 20, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Don't forget to put out the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your door.
Paulette3028 Posted August 20, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Nothing is better than the mid afternoon balcony nap in the hammock.:) I want to know MORE about THAT hammock! Aside from the hammock info requested, we always make it to Quest and Love and Marriage Game, late night Karaoke (if on the schedule). Yes, we also get in a little napping. Even if in the middle of the evening, between show and later night activities -- a 20 minute nap at that point gives you 2-3 hours more 'high stepping' ability! I picked up the hammock in Cozumel in the shops that are just outside the pier for $25 or maybe less. I've had it set up on Freedom class and Oasis class. Note the difference in the photos from Oasis class to Freedom class. I made my own spreader bar to make the hammock a bit more comfortable. You will need some heavy rope. The ends of the hammock come together in a loop that you then need a piece of rope to attach from that to your anchor point, 2 pieces 3-4 feet should be plenty for Freedom class and 1-2 feet for Oasis class. Oasis class was easy for an anchor point as there are support poles that are accessible above the balcony. For the Freedom class you need to bring a pair of small C clamps to attach to the girders above. We had an aft falconry on Enchantment that I think we also needed the C clamps for. emeraldcity Posted August 20, 2016 #17 Share Posted August 20, 2016 We rarely do all-day excursions at port stops. That gives us the opportunity to be back on board by mid-afternoon at the latest so we can get an afternoon nap.
Virtopia Posted August 21, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 21, 2016 I usually do a quick nap when I get back in from port, no more than 90 minutes. I am a night owl though, so the evening activites are my favourite part of a cruise, especially the Quest. My next cruise, however, is my first European cruise and the excursions are much longer and taxing, so I will have to pace myself appropriately. I believe one of my tours start at 7am ... yikes. Langley Cruisers Posted August 21, 2016 #19 Share Posted August 21, 2016 Napping is fabulous! The lull of the ocean, the coolness of the cabin, the Do Not Disturb sign in the door... it is all so very good. :):):):
oldmom Posted August 21, 2016 #20 Share Posted August 21, 2016 I'm one of those rare people that has a hard time napping. If I do- I usually sleep too long-hour or more-and wake up with a headache and feeling hung over feeling. Hard to get going again- So, I rarely get to stay up till 11pm or so. My husband can fall a sleep anywhere-and has- he stays up till 2-3 in the casino, has a blast-sleeps for 4-5 hours-up-ready to go!;)
shippmates Posted August 21, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 21, 2016 If we want to do a late night activity an afternoon nap is a must. I do love to go back mid afternoon and take a nap before dinner.

sheeniwoo Posted August 21, 2016 #24 Share Posted August 21, 2016 I did not nap on my last cruise, i felt like I hadn't been on vacation when we disembarked. Since we have a balcony this time around I can actually spend time in the room vs porthole and having to leave the room just to step outside. Rare brillohead Posted August 21, 2016 #25 Share Posted August 21, 2016 I don't usually bother with the production shows, so I nap between dinner and evening dancing (which doesn't pick up until after 11pm).
