Cruising in January

The climate will be like that of southern Florida at that time - certainly better than most of the US, but not as warm as the Caribbean. Frequently lower stateroom rates past New Years. The only concern would be weather related travel issues in the US to the departure port, depending on where you are coming from.

It may be chilly (you may need align jacketed sweater). Water temperatures will be colder than most prefer. If you are not doing water sports, you ate probably fine. We have traveled to that area of the Caribbean in late December and it was a welcome change from the very hot temps When we usually travel there in summer.

If you live anywhere much north of Port Canaveral you will have warmer weather than at home, but it could be pretty chilly in the Bahamas (think as low as high 40's at night), but it will still be better than at home. It is good to get a short taste of cruising for your first time - but remember that it will be better when you take a longer one further south. Enjoy the ship.

....except that the Bahamas are not in the Caribbean nor are considered in that region. They are off the coast of Florida and south towards Cuba in the Atlantic. :)
