I knew the site of this meant we were pulling up to the port at the shopping area

P8202839%20copy-L.jpg

Once we pulled up, the guys jumped out of the van and handed the driver $5 for the both of them. They mumbled something in a different language, handed him the $5, and walked away! Um...why do you guys get to set your own price???

We decided to head straight back to the ship. There was nothing here we wanted (got everything last time) and Kendra decided to stay and shop.

We caught a ride on this...

P8202840%20copy-L.jpg

Back to the room to shower and change...and send my daughter in law a picture of my deep dark golden tan.

IMG_5309%20copy-L.jpg

Sakari was pretty dark too.

We decided to head to the Tara Library to play some games with Sakari. This place had more games than I have seen on any other ship. There were A LOT both familiar and unfamiliar to me.

P8202849%20copy-L.jpg

Sakari only wanted to play Connect 4.

P8202844%20copy-L.jpg

Now I did find it odd that the library and the game room were together. There were a lot of teens in there playing cards and other various games, then we were in there playing Connect 4...then there were 2 other ladies in there "trying" to read a book. I don't know how they could concentrate honestly. Eventually they did leave.

P8202852%20copy-L.jpg

We went by the candy store and Sakari picked out what she would like to get for later after the kids club. We were busy killing time and waiting for 6pm to come so that she could go eat dinner with her friends.

You didn't mention it and I don't see a full photo, so maybe your driver didn't give you the information about Timothy Hill. It's where you can see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean on the other. Very cool.

After dropping her off, we decided to head to the grill. Kendra had some chicken nuggets several days ago and said they were good, so I thought I would give them a try and I was also craving a "dog".

P8202853%20copy-L.jpg

Out on the pool deck, they had someone playing the steel drums. I love listening to steel drums play. It really makes me feel like I'm on a cruise and in the Caribbean. It's the one thing that I remember the most from my first and second cruise back in the 80/90's. The use to actually pull them off onto the private islands too.

We were sailing REALLY slow. Like there's not going to be any dolphins playing in our wake today.

We picked up a few more pictures at Pixels.

St%20Thomas%20copy-L.jpg

Off to the Punchliner we went for a show at 7pm.

P8202854%20copy-L.jpg

Then off to the casino of course. I bet you were wondering if I was going to completely throw caution to the wind and do something different tonight and not go to the casino. Ha! Wrong.

We stayed at the casino for 1 hour 15 minutes and I played the slots that you roll the dice if you hit the bonus. I got to roll so many times and won $54 this time and only bet $1.00. Kendra came in for awhile and won over $100 and left happy.

After leaving the casino, we headed back to the candy store to get Sakari's candy and also to the shops to get our Christmas ship ornament and my novelty tee shirt I get from every ship.

I was told that if I spent $18 more, I would get $75 worth of stuff for $50. I went over and grabbed me a bottle of White Diamonds for $29. Then she changed the story to I needed to buy $13 more. Um...you just told me spent another $18 and now that I came back actually spending another $29, I still need another $13??? This lady had herself confused, me confused, and I wasn't very happy about the switch up of stories. I ended up grabbing a Carnival blue and white striped beach bag with a rope handle.

We picked up the munchkin and headed back to the room.

We decided when we got back to the room that we would order room service again.

The same lady answered the phone. I order 2 orders of grilled cheese sandwiches, both with chips, and a cheesecake.

I forgot to take a picture when it came, but there was only 1 grilled cheese sandwich with chips. When it came, I signed the receipt, gave a tip, and immediately opened up the things on the tray and found the mistake. The delivery guy was only about 5 doors down and I yelled...I told him we were missing the rest of the order. I told him we order 2 plates of grilled cheese sandwiches and chips and only got one. He said "It's all on the same plate". I lifted the lid and said "No, there's only one". He said he would go back and get another and confirmed we wanted chips with the meal.

P8202858%20copy-L.jpg

The hubby and I shared half of the sandwich and within 10 minutes, there was a knock at the door.

I took the plate, lifted the lid...and this is what we had...

P8202859%20copy-L.jpg

Are you fricken serious????? Really? They can't get anything right. Two nights in a row and still screwing up over and over.

I honestly don't remember if they eventually brought a sandwich or not, but I'm thinking that we just said "forget about it". We were tired and needed to go to bed in order to get up tomorrow.

I packed our beach bags and off to sleep we went.

Nope, the driver didn't say a word on the way there. I was aware of it from our last time here and the big mess we had (we were supposed to have a 10 minute stop there with our excursion and both there and back they didn't stop, but I did get some "moving" pictures on the way). :)

Kim,

Re: Carambolas...

It looks like this is the same place as the Beach Extravaganza excursion Carnival sells for $45pp. In addition to the taxi, did you have to pay for entrance or for the chairs? Also, how long was the taxi ride.

This looks like something we might want to do when we go! Loving the pics!

Hi, first time posting on cc I have been following your review and it is addictive. I too am a nurse and I find myself refreshing the browser any free time I get at work to see if you have added anything.

Cc has finally confirmed my account so I may be a bit behind with my comments. Forgive me.

I live in Barbados and will be going on my 6th cruise next Wednesday same itinerary departing from here (but never really the same experience) and I usually view reviews for new things to do. I also view to see what people are saying about my country.

I am glad you experience such a wonderful time here and believe there are so many people living here that have never seen under the sea. I have been snorkelling twice. Although beautiful I am afraid of the turtles. I am certainly no Sakari!!!

Anyhow keep up the good work and for those sailing with me.I will be that girl dancing to every beat

Oh and for those who asked about embarkation it is a breeze compared to what I.have read in other reviews

No, this is not the same beach. Carnivals "Beach Extravaganza" is located at Spice Mill, which is located at Cockelshell Beach and a much further drive. You go all the way to the end. (I have a review going to Cockelshell in my signature from a few months ago on the Breeze, but we went to Reggae Beach Club instead of Spice Mill).

At Carambola, we paid $10 per chair and $10 for umbrella. The taxi was $4 per adult. The taxi ride was 10 minutes according to the times on my pictures when we left the port until we were pulling up at the front gate. The ride to Cockelshell was around 45 minutes according to my times on my pictures.

Hello there fellow nurse. Glad to have you with us and welcome to cruise critic. I hope you are able to find some valuable information on these boards. :)

You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place! I immediately fell in love with it and I hope to return again some day. I would even love to come and stay for several days and sail out of there. Unfortunately, our airline does not fly there yet. :(

I hope you have a wonderful cruise and dance your heart out! :D

I wanted to add my big THANK YOU for taking the time to do these fantastic reviews. I know it takes so much time and effort to do these, and want you to know that it is really, really appreciated! :D

That Sakari is just so darn cute! When I saw a mermaid blanket advertised the other day I immediately thought about her. (google Blankie Tails) She is so lucky to have great parents who love to cruise LOL.

Re the St Kitts monkeys - I have a million pictures of my hubby and I on different islands posing with monkeys, sitting on donkeys/burros, holding iguanas - you know whatever the locals have in port to have you take a picture with

Then I read this by the poster Trainman-2 over on the RCI board:

Here I am in St Kitts cuddling with Monkeys!

They are cute, clingy, and cuddly!

DSCN1184_zpsubwsfxmi.jpg

However,

Since I returned from the Cruise I have been feeling "run down" and tired and have developed some urinary tract problems.

My Urologist had a "sample" that I gave him tested and found that I am infected with:

Staphylococcus Werniri

An internet search provided the following info!

Staphylococcus warneri

This Gram positive coccus is found as singles, pairs, and infrequently as irregular, grape-like clusters. Cells are catalase positive and exhibit facultatively anaerobic metabolism. Able to use glucose oxidatively and fermentatively. Salt tolerant in media with NaCl concentrations up to 10%. Growth occurs at temperatures between 15-45 C, with optimum growth occurring between 30-40 C. Isolated most frequently from the skin and nasal cavities of monkeys and apes, infrequently from humans and other mammals. There is evidence of its involvement in infections of cattle and canines, as well as nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patients particularly associated with indwelling medical devices and invasive procedures.

DANG! No More Monkey Cuddling for Me!

We have never posed with anything since LOL ;)

I thought as a nurse you might be interested in this too!

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to write such a beautiful review.

I can honestly say that I have snorkled for many years and have never even remotely saw the amount and variety of underwater life that you have pointed out. The pictures are outstanding and your family looks like a fun bunch to travel with.

Girl every Wednesday I can see the tail from work and if I am having a crappy day just seeing it brings me joy. Hopefully one day I can fly out and sail from an other port and go to other ports but it is quite expensive......so...... which every ine departs from here it shall be. And I would hate to know I give up dropping my bags off walking into a dining room with welcome refershments and drink fruit punch or run punch so sip on while you sit and wait to go to register for long lines in a hot cruise terminal.

For some reason while in town.I scan the faces to see if I recognize any one from cc. Or I simply ask the ones with obvious beach gear that are walking away from the sea if they are lost and redirect them

Boatyard is marvelous I went there for my birthday paid $40bds $20us locals don't get the welcome drink but we were able to spend back the cover in food or drinks just pay the excess if you go over. We always give them a funny name since they blast it over the speakers to come get your food then everyone knows your name. Didn't hear you mention about the rope swing where.you swung off the jetty opposite side to where you boarded boat to go snorkelling.

My daughter loves the sea in fact water on the whole I usually have to literally drag her out the water or threaten to leave her there to get her out. The seagrassum weeds are coming back full force have seen a lot on the east coast.

Anytime you come back to Barbados I will take you around once I am free. I'll show you real bajan life if culture and food is what you are into

Hey Kim,

Just a thanks again for this fantastic review and "getaway" from reality :)

Just thought of a tip for you to get pop for your dinner that we really took advantage of after reading how frustrating it could be to get a drink at dinner in MDR's. So on the escape for example, the MIXX bar is right outside of taste and savour, 2 of 3 MDR's. We would stop there and grab a drink to take with us into dinner. Never had to wait for a drink as when they would come to our table and say "oh you already have drinks" we would say we would like to order more. They would come with dinner :) Never had the frustration.

Also came across these (I love looking at travel accessories) and wondered if they could help Sakari, the reviews seem pretty good.

https://www.amazon.ca/Lewis-Clark-765B-Pressure-Reducing/dp/B0007TBZZ8/ref=sr_1_80?ie=UTF8&qid=1473878288&sr=8-80&keywords=travel+accessories

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of nursing do you do? Home Care? Was just curious since you leave for a couple hours and come back :)

Also curious about hubby's store, you mention it a number of times, but don't mention what kind of store. Just curiosity and absolutely none of my business, so if you don't want to answer, tell me to stop being nosy :D

Well now I have to wait until you come back with more, which is new for me since I've been late to the party with the last two reviews I read.

Thanks again,

Heather

We booked Little French Key based on your review, last summer on the Magic, but it was not to be, she could not dock due to wind. We will be back, one day!

I just LOVE this picture of Sakari in the very last photo, that smile says it all!

I'm curious if you use sunscreen and if so, what brand?

Yep, Sakari already has the mermaid tail blanket. :D

Eh, yea any time you hold an animal or go to a different country, or walk into a grocery store, or touch something someone else has touched, you can possibly catch something. I mean we all have different strains in us (such as our nose...oh gosh I can remember do the nasal swab in one of my classes and watching it grow, then looking under the microscope ) and gram positive coccus can produce different things, such as staph or strep infections. I try not to live scared all the time about things and I'm definitely not a germaphobe (just make sure to do good hand-washing as anyone should be doing) . I mean we are cruising to places (especially Puerto Rico) that have the Zika virus right now and people are still doing it. Same as West Nile, but people still travel. I remember the talk about chikungunya last year or so and that was supposed to be a big thing in the Caribbean, but yet people kept vacationing and cruising. I mean I'm sure there are a lot more, but in all honestly, you could possibly catch anything walking outside of your home. I just chose not to live like that. :)

Quick question. does Sakari swim on a team? I know with everything you do and now scuba (which is awesome by the way!) now that I see the flippers out of the tail..I think this is the first I have seen her without the tail, I bet she would be a fabulous butterfly swimmer. Even more so how she is able to hold her breath - that truly is a gift and learning to kick with your feet together isnt a normal act for most people - thats why the butterfly stroke is one of , if not the hardest to do, its a timing thing, and if you ever watch any of the olympic swimmers doing it the really good ones are not breathing every stroke so holding breath is an important thing too. Just wondering

Pshh, if I lived anywhere near a port, I would never even consider sailing out of anywhere else. The money you save by just doing that port every time is well worth it. You are very lucky.

That's funny about giving them a funny name to announce. We didn't have anyone ever come around to us on the beach and ask if we wanted anything, so we had to go up and order our food at the bar and they had us wait for some reason.

Yea, we didn't do the rope swing. I actually didn't see anyone do it all day. I only seen a guy up there once and not for long. I know they won't just let you go up and swing and someone has to be there.

I use to have to threaten Sakari about being left behind. It was the only way to get her to leave. I don't know how old yours is, but Sakari is now 8 and at this point, she would just let us leave and wouldn't care one bit. So, it doesn't work anymore.

Oh gosh, I would love to have a local take us around and see the sites. I'm going to hold you to that now! You might now wish you hadn't offered. :D

Yea, we have carried pop in with us before and have even carried cans because we know just how long it takes for them to come back with one.

I don't know if those would work with her or not and they kinda look like what she already has and doesn't work. But I guess anything is worth a shot. I'll check into them. (Hopefully with her scuba class, she'll learn to pop her ears).

Yes, I private home care, as in subcontract from agencies and private people. I pick my own schedule, I picked my own patients, I decide how many I want, and I see the same patients routinely. Then the benefits of taking vacation whenever you want. ;) So once I get a full schedule to my liking, I don't take on any others. I absolutely LOVE my patients and we are so close. I worked for the hospital for over 30 years and the last 4 years before doing this, I was in the ER/Trauma. Fast paced, acute care...and now slow paced chronic care. It's such a switch up. :p But I enjoy it. I work 2-3 hours a day, not standing on my feet for 12 hour days and I'm out in the community (not to mention pay is outstanding obviously).

The hubby has been an aggressive skater for 23 years. He started a company 9 years ago selling skates. It progressed in a full blown store with BMX, skateboards, scooters, skates, penny boards, wake boards, long boards and clothing. He absolutely loves it. (Our store bakerized . com). My youngest son, Kolin...age 21, usually runs the store when we are on vacation (he rides BMX bikes) and the hubby runs the online part while on the ship...or beach. :D But, this next vacation, Kolin will be coming with us, so we will probably have to close the store for a week.

This is one half of the store.

I really hope you are able to make it to LFK. It's amazing! Keep trying!

Yes, actually we use 100spf when we cruise, but we hardly ever burn (especially me and Sakari). We have Indian in us, so we get that deep dark tan instead. But I still don't want to risk it. But for the most part, we stay in the water so much that of course it washed off quickly, even if we buy the sport. I just buy anything from the drug store. Nothing special.

No, she does not swim on a team or take swimming lessons. I taught her how to swim in our pool back when she was 3 years old and she's been practicing until 2 years ago when we moved and now no longer have a pool. Now she has to wait until we take vacations or go to the local beach in the summer.

She taught herself how to swim with her legs together. She actually practiced for a little over a year before "Santa" decided to bring her the first mermaid tail (the orange one). I felt she had done enough practicing and she was finally able to convince me that she would not "drown" doing it. She got her second (blue) mermaid tail for her birthday. The funny thing is, when she does not have her monofin on, she still likes to swim with her legs/feet together. It's actually unnatural for her to kick like a normal person, which worries me sometimes. She will kick back and forth to tread water, but to swim, she still tries to put them both together.

The holding the breath thing...she practiced that in our tub and continues to do so (even sometimes with her goggles on :p). She can hold her breath longer than her 21 year old brother. They have competitions. ;)

Thank you so much for all of your FANTASTIC reviews! You are obviously very busy with school and family, etc and still take the time to do these great reviews. I really look forward to them.

We booked Little French Key based on your review, last summer on the Magic, but it was not to be, she could not dock due to wind. We will be back, one day!

I just LOVE this picture of Sakari in the very last photo, that smile says it all!

I'm curious if you use sunscreen and if so, what brand?

I wonder if you were on our cruise. I think it happens more than we would like. I went on a cruise in March I think and we didn't dock..and the weird thing it wasn't windy. We went back in June and got to go. Book LFK...I booked because of Kim as well and I have been since and will be again in two weeks....hopefully.

We were on the 8/16/15 sailing.

I booked because of Kim's review also.

I had a sinking feeling we weren't going to be able to make it, the ship was just sitting out a ways from the dock and I knew that wasn't normal. There were some white caps. The Captain came on and said he would wait and see if the wind died down but by 8:30am or so, it wasn't happening.

I was so disappointed but my family and I had a great unexpected sea day.
