sg1phileshipper Posted September 10, 2016 Author #52 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Well, just came down from the rooftop and she sits there waiting. Only saw her aft, but she is beautiful What I think is the terminal building. Rooftop pool A big container ship sailing by. Check-out is 11 and that's when we head to the port. Our other friends land around noon, so we'll probably wait for them in the terminal. Thanks all for your replies and safe travel messages. I'll see you on the ship Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

sg1phileshipper Posted September 11, 2016 Author #54 Share Posted September 11, 2016 Finally aboard the beautiful of the seas. We set sail like an hour or so ago, and just like every time we set sail, I feel a little dizzy. That's probably me getting me sea legs. I can feel the ship moving just a little. Captain Shawn said the wind would be mild and we would get 7 foot waves, a smooth sailing. We left our hotel a little after 11 and arrived at the pier shortly after. I don't think I've ever seen so many taxis in my life, dropping people off and picking people up. We dropped our bags off and stood in line just for a little while to go to security. We did check in and then waited for our friends who flew in from LA today. People were let on the ship around noon and rooms were ready at 2. Our friends made it around one and we headed straight to the windjammer. We had no trouble whatsoever to find a table for 6. We all agreed that it wasn't crowded at all. I got the surf and stream package prior to the cruise and once we were allowed into our stateroom I tried Skype and it worked really well. Walked around the ship with my computer showing my goddaughter the ship. I tried netflix earlier and it seemed to work, but it doesn't now. Overall, the internet speed seems pretty decent and we have maximum connection in our stateroom. And I taking back what I said about netflix. It takes a while to load, but it seems to be working. And that's when I started roaming the ship and taking pictures. But I am on my MacBook and actually have no idea how to post pictures here, how to resize them and stuff like that. Dinner was at 6.30 instead of 6. I had the caesar salad, went on with the chicken and had fruit for desert. The food was really really good and service was awesome and fast. Our cabin stewart is Myla from Ukraine and she is very friendly. Welcome aboard show is at 10.30, so I should be heading there soon. I hope I can figure out the picture thing tomorrow, cause this is not how imagined me doing a live report.
sg1phileshipper Posted September 11, 2016 Author #55 Share Posted September 11, 2016 Some strange things happening though. Movies seem to be free on the TV and I can actually access the HDMI source, so I can hook up my computer. When did all this happen? Matress is really hard, and it already has a tin topper on it, so I am wondering what's gonna happen tonight. I'm not up to speed anymore, I need to take more cruises. I didn't cruise since 2012, so I guess I missed a couple of things. Going to the lyrics theatre now. Cindy

Milla was my cabin steward the second week and, yes, she is very friendly!. When you get the opportunity, please tell her Rick (from 2 weeks ago) says hello.:) Thank you! sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #59 Share Posted September 12, 2016 DAY 1 Continued I was so mad yesterday I couldn't post pictures, but I think they may be just too big. Back on my iphone now, I'll post pictures from my Nikon back home. Our cruise director is Dan Dan and I really like him. He is one funny guy! Welcome aboard show with comedian Jeff Norris was hilarious. I almost lost it a couple of times. Some things he said made you turn red, so I wonder what his adult only comedy tomorrow evening will be like.... Went to bed pretty late and watched Netflix. It takes about 5 minutes to load and at first the quality is crappy, but it clears up to near-HD. For those interested, I watched Fixer Upper, but only saw five mintes because I fell asleep. sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #60 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Random ramblings The Ship: she is a beauty and really well maintained. Yes, she shows some wear and tear here and there, but she is really clean and comfortable, with great crew. I'd book her again in a heartbeat. Our stateroom: I love the hump balcony. It is so close to everything and I wasn't bothered by noise at all. Three decks up to the windjammer and four down to dining room. It's perfect. The matress is hard and it has a topper on it, but I slept really well. And in case you're wondering, movies are 11,99 again, yesterday it was 0. HDMI still works, so I bought a cable And now <drum roll please> the pictures!! The crowd: A mix of older people, young couples with kids and me. Most of them are nice, but when I see someone taking a hot dog roll with his hands, I start to wonder if some of them were brought up by wolves. The food: Really really good. It has very good flavor, both in the Windjammer and MDR. Service is good too. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #61 Share Posted September 12, 2016 DAY 2: St. Maarten (8:00 - 17:00) All aboard was 4:30. Woke up a little before 7:30, just as we were sailing into St. Maarten. Ship was docked and cleared before 8, so 30 minutes earlier than predicted. Windjammer was crazy this morning! We got a table pretty fast, but there were lines for everything (except for the healthy choices). Forgot to take pictures, but I had my coffee, two slices of wheat toast, a little side of omelet, yoghurt and a ton of fruit. Before you give me a dirty look, I didn't forget about the oatmeal, but I'd rather do. It tasted like cardboard. We tookthe water and walked around downrmtown. Next week we plan on heading to Maho beach to watch the big planes land. And I did indeed have trouble with my Nikon camera (it fogged up on the inside) and I forgot my phone. After 30 minutes it cleared and I was back in picture heaven. The trick is to keep it out of the bag, because the bags seems to hold to cold inside... We had lunch at the Windjammer with our friends and the salmon spread at the make your own sandwich is to die for. I had a ton of salad with ranch and I loved it. Sorry, I keep forgetting pictures. I'm certainly not the Queen of food porn Played cards on our balcony and then I went up to the helipad Mom took her shower in the mean time Hold on!!!!! There's no pictures of that... Phew, consider yourself lucky! Tonight Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #62 Share Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Tonight is the first formal night Yesterday, both over the speaker and by our server, that except for the first night, bare feet, tank tops, slippers and shorts are not permitted in the MDR. Didn't see if the turned anyone away Had the smoked chicken breast(sorry, already started eating) Atlantic salmon as main (again, ate it before I even thought of taking a picture). I asked for extra vegetables late, and I got like a pound of brocolli and carrots Good choices for dessert. Got the cheesecake and fruit on the side Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk Edited September 12, 2016 by sg1phileshipper
Glitch1928 Posted September 12, 2016 #63 Share Posted September 12, 2016 I'm so glad I found your live review! First, congrats on the weight loss. I applaud the dedication that takes. Second, I'm loving your review. Looking at booking the AOS for Jan 2018 while on the FOS in Jan 2017. I cruise with my mom, too. My husband hates to travel, so I get my travel fixes in with my kids, mom, and/or friends. Can't wait to see what's next. sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #64 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Tonight: production show with royal's singers and dancers, but I have my own production going on here. Captain introduced the staff Drydock: Talked to someone from next cruise about it. They're gonna add Chops Grill and Isumi (or whatever it's called). She's gonna get the flowrider and the waterslides. The staterooms will be completely refurbished, with new furniture and all. Tomorrow we'll be in St Kitts and weather will be in the high 80's. We have nothing planned, except for breakfast at 8.30 in MDR Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

cleagle Posted September 12, 2016 #68 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Cindy, Thanks so much for all of the updates and great "Live" review. Would really like to see drink prices (what are they doing about the revised prices for people who have already bought packages) and also the Cruise Daily Paper. Wow, formal night already! Seems like you barely got your clothes unpacked! I love the view pictures that you are getting, I think the first place I'll be going is up to the H deck too! sg1phileshipper Posted September 12, 2016 Author #71 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Good morning all! Couple of things I forgot to mention Drinking water: I always drink the ships water and like it. This time it has a weird taste if you drink it in plastic. There's no aftertaste if you drink it in a glass. It's very weird. Elevators: I don't use them much, mainly use the stairs. But if I do, you have to wait for a while. But I don't understand why healthy and young people take them for one or two decks. With all that eating, it's healthy for ya. I've been using the stairs so much, the muscles in my legs are hurting :) Our server is Edren and the assistant server is Brian. They are really efficient! And just like yesterday morning, I smell toast in our cabin. Breakfast for us at 8.30 and then we get off the ship. We tried to book a tour last night around 10, but no more tours for today on our tv. Lesson learned, you need to do it earlier! Have a great day and I'll return to you later Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

I know what you are saying about the elevators, I too take the stairs as much as possible in attempt to burn off all the empty calories I consume on a cruise, but not too many people share that mindset :)

sg1phileshipper Posted September 13, 2016 Author #75 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Day 3: St. Kitts Got up around 7.30 and got ready for breakfast. We did the MDR this morning and it was so much nicer and quieter. We had nothing planned, but did a tour with a local, called Anthony B. It was really good and I really enjoyed the island. Of course, all the pics were taken with my Nikon and I still haven't figured that out. Today, it was really hot and humid! When I came back they were painting the ship Some views of the ship and the port Came back around one and had lunch. I then went to the pool and didn't have too much trouble finding a chair in the shadow. I did some reading and some people watching. At sail away, I went to the helipad and enjoyed the views For dinner I had the antipasta, chicken marsala and something low fat and sugar free I am writing to you from the library, waiting for tonight's entertainment, El Gaucho. It's also 70's night on the promenade and at 11.15 adult comedy with Jeff Norris. The heat tired me out, so I'll probably go to sleep after El Gaucho. I can't be certai , but I think I already saw his work. I'll try to make pics of bar menu tomorrow. And it's also Meet and Mingle day Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
