Live from Adventure of the Seas - B2B 9/10/16 and 9/17/16

Recommended Posts

Just had dinner at the Fairfield Inn. Food is very good and affordable. Okay, okay, I'll add some food porn.

Mom had the chicken fingers with fries and honey mustard sauce.

I got a Caesar salad with chicken and a backed potato.

Tomorrow we get up at 4.15, have a light continental breakfast and take the 5.30 shuttle to the airport. Flight leaves at 8.10.

It's gonna be a long day, but shopping at Plaza Las America will make up for it!

Breakfast this morning a little before 5. Had some toast, yoghurt and milk.

Very funny moment on the shuttle. Arrived at American Airlines terminal and couple got off thinking it was LaGuardia. Funny for us, not so for them. Little word of advice: If you stay at a JFK airport hotel don't expect a shuttle to LaGuardia.

No one at check-in, but we fly front of the bus for the first time ever. Mom's birthday gift.

Screen at gate make it seem so real

Also looking forward to your impressions (and probably some great pictures) of Adventure and the southern Caribbean routes. I've done these a couple of times on Adventure and have very much enjoyed them, as well as the ship.

As a side note, my family originally came to the US from Belgium (from the small town of Jeneffe). I've visited parts of Belgium but haven't made it there yet.

Bon voyage!

We will be joining you on the 9/17 cruise and can't wait! I am looking forward to following your review for the first week to keep us going until our turn gets here!

I am also sailing with my mom who is the best cruise partner I could ask for! We always have such a great time and enjoy making those mother/daughter memories! I hope you and your mom have a great vacation and maybe we will run into the second week.

Safe travels!

We had a good, but bumpy flight. Service was great, but a little disappointed we didn't have personal tvs. Come on Delta, it's 2016! Plane was a little old, but seats were comfortable. Had a tuscan omelet in a crust and it was really good.

Views flying into Puerto Rico were awesome.

Arrived at Ciqala Luxury Suites around 12.30. Taxi ride was 21. SJU is very organized, with a clear line. You get a paper with your fare beforehand and hand it to taxi driver.

Room was not ready, so we headed to Plaza Las Americas. It was so so. Stores are expensive compared to what I am used when visiting Las Vegas. We had lunch at Applebees. I had a chicken caesar salad and mom had plain pasta and toast. We bought essentials at Walgreens. Called the same taxi driver to pick us up again.

We are in a Deluxe Room which is a bit small, but clean and bed is comfortable. Internet should be high speed, but it's difficult to post pics.

Our friends arrive tonight. Can't wait to see them, it's been two years...

If anyone has questions, I'll try to answer them all.

As for the itinerary, I am too lazy too look it up. I'll post it later.

Darn, I found this thread a few days late. I'll be interested in anything you hear/notice regarding the upcoming retrofit/drydock. I hope the KLM 747 is landing the day you are there, that was a bucket list item for me and I think the 747 only has a few more months of service to the island.

As for the intinerary, with a back to back you might hit all of my upcoming islands. Enjoy.

All those enthusiastic replies make me want to do a great live thread.

For those of you who are losing weight and will cruise soon, it will be interesting to see how I will handle my 104 lbs. weight loss while on board. Lucky for me, I don't like sweets all that much anymore, because it is simply to sweet.

Cindy

You will probably do great, No alcohol and limited sweets is the key. My wife and I lost 225lb between us after our 3rd cruise. Sugar Free Key lime pie tastes pretty good and drinking lots of water as you mentioned helps. Even still, on a 7 day cruise we can gain 3-5 pounds, but we found the airport/travel days are much harder to be good than cruise days.

Last day before the cruise and we spent is exploring old town.

Had breakfast at 8.30, which was included in the price. One of the reasons we picked this hotel. I didn't care for it that much. Neighborhood is so so, pool is not a pool but a hot tub and rooms are small. We entered the lobby of the Sheraton Old San Juan and everyone said the same. Next time we're staying there.

We ended up taking the free trolley and got off at Del Morro. It is beautiful up there.

Somehow I still can't post pictures. I thought it was a slow connection, but then it doesn't make sence that I can watch Netflix.

It is very hot and humid, but my camera acts really well. Lens fogs up at first, but I wait a few minutes before I take out and I have no problems.

We had lunch at Subways.

For those of you cruising soon, bring a hat, sunglasses and lots of sunscreen. You'll need it.

I really hope I'll be able to post pictures soon. Tomorrow we stay at the hotel until checkout time and head to the cruise port. See you on board.
