Beds

The bed is 72 inches wide in cabins we have been in. When it is split, each half is 36", what we know as a 'single bed'. A 30" bed would be very narrow like a bunk.

Sorry if this is wrong. This is from the Better Sleep Council Mattress size for a Queen is 60X80 inches. Princess tells you the mattress is I queen size.

I agree with you that 60x80 is the measurement for a Queen bed. :) I believe the beds on Princess are a different sizing. They do not fully fit the description of King, but they are larger than Queen. We have a queen size bed at home, and when we have the large bed on Princess, we feel we have much more space than at home. Rather nice actually. :) We usually have the bed split into two singles because it gives more useable floor space in the cabin. I am sure the singles are much more than 30" wide.

It seems bigger than a queen size to me also, but smaller than a king size. There is a size that is between the two, sometimes known as a super-queen - 66 inches wide.

We've also had the beds split into twins and didn't find them too narrow. I'm going on Sun Princess next week, and will have the beds in twin configuration since we have an inside cabin. I'll try to remember to measure them.

  • 4 weeks later...

Since I have just been on Sun Princess which has the new beds I checked the size. My tape measure showed roughly 34 inches.

The beds are super-comfortable. At first I thought it would be too soft for me but there is very good support under the plush top of the mattress.

We were in an inside cabin so had the beds in twin configuration. We both found them comfortable in size as well (and we're both plus-size people).

The bedlinen is also wonderful, feels very luxurious.

I agree, certainly bigger than our Queen at home.

I know Mrs Gut can get further away, maybe that's why she likes cruising?:p:mad:

I've asked for a Queen bed in November. Have noted to pack the tape measure so I can check the width.
