Daveintb Posted September 16, 2016 #27 Share Posted September 16, 2016 My boss got the email yesterday, he spends decent money in the casino and get this, he has only sailed on RCI twice as he is a Carnival devotee, go figure !

MrsPete Posted September 16, 2016 #29 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Wow, cool offer! If I were retired, I'd jump all over this! At a glance, my guess is that they're having trouble filling this ship -- and we're talking about one of the dead-est times of year. They'd rather have someone sail at essentially no cost to them ... because at least they'd make money from you on the casino, etc.
barbatkins Posted September 16, 2016 #30 Share Posted September 16, 2016 The offered sailings were from the end of September through the December 15th cruise. So it's being offered on a lot of sailings Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Clarea Posted September 16, 2016 #31 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Does anyone know if you can pay to upgrade from interior to outside? Sure, you can pay to upgrade anytime you want. Just contact whoever booked your cruise.
gambler Posted September 16, 2016 #32 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I got it also. Read the fine print, don't think you can upgrade. By the time you pay airfare, taxes, port charges, gratuity's it's not really free unless you win in the casino, lol
RFerrington Posted September 16, 2016 #33 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Yes, you can upgrade. I asked about upgrading to an OS and she gave me a decent Club Royale discounted price. Unfortunately, still can't go. 4 on the books already. Out of vacation time.
Coralc Posted September 16, 2016 #34 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I got the email too and was really surprised as I only qualified for 2 key chains and $5 with my points on my recent cruise. [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That is $5 more than we received! :D:):D
Debinnova Posted September 16, 2016 #35 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Got offer for free Ocean View. Called and for 5 nights total tax and fees $211 for both of us. Free drinks while in Casino. I can live with that. Next step up to upgrade is Junior Suite as there are no balcony rooms on Empress. Cost to upgrade $600. Still debating if it is worth it. My concern is all of the complaints regarding the AC in cabins (I like it cold to sleep) and plumbing. easyboy Posted September 16, 2016 #36 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Unfortunately, the email states that the offer is available "only for the person named in this communication." They plugged the loophole!
MelissaMcC Posted September 16, 2016 #37 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I got this offer too. I play slots and don't know if spending $100-$200 a day is considered much to comp a room for but I took it. Squeezing the 7 day in December in before our 10 person Allure cruise in Feb. Cost me $288 for 2 in an ocean view. Hubby plays tables and tournaments and we asked if he had the offer too but they checked and said no. Found cheap flights through southwest for $200 per person so $688 for a 7 day four port mini vacation right before Christmas. I'm happy [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
birdylady Posted September 16, 2016 #38 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Yep, we got it too. Sadly this time of year (basically through Feb) is hubby & my crazy times so taking that time off is next to impossible. It was a push just to get 2 days off for our long weekend sailing in 2 weeks. But to be fair, like others said, by the time you add in airfare, taxes, etc.., it's not exactly free. I suspect since they are all for Empress, RCI is having trouble filling that ship. The JS is worth the extra money (IMO) for the extra space....cabins on this ship are small, so the extra space it will give you is nice. No one on our sailing that I spoke to, and I speak with tons of people when I sail, complained about the AC in their cabin, just in the casino. They had portable AC units in the casino to help the situation.
troykahack Posted September 16, 2016 #40 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I got a similar email from Club Royale. They also called. All sailings on Empress before Christmas cruises except over Thanksgiving. Also a few other ships sailing 7 day Western Caribbean If I knew how to take the picture out of email and post it here, I would.

troykahack Posted September 16, 2016 #44 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Does anyone know if you can pay to upgrade from interior to outside? On my call from Club Royale, which was 7 hours before the email, upgrades from OV to JS were available for different $ base on cruise date. A couple were as low as around $200. Dunfer Posted September 16, 2016 #45 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I made my reservation this morning, and upgraded to a JS (because I heard the cabins ran small on this ship), for $500.00. I think I will be glad I did.
CRUISINGCPA Posted September 16, 2016 #46 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Shoot! I would have been so in on this offer as I'm looking to try solo cruising but the double fare thing is holding me back. I hope I didn't accidentally delete the email... Not what I did on Allure in Jan? About the same as on Allure in August. Not a huge amount but enough for the $200 certificate. I'm not surprised I didn't get the e-mail as I've never received an e-mail or snail mail from Club Royale in all the years I've been a VIP. I never know if any deals are out there unless I call and ask. After a couple dozen attempts at getting e-mails/flyers sent to me and trying a different e-mail address, I gave up. Gregg00ss Posted September 16, 2016 #50 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Who would have thought it would be hard to find someone to go a virtually free cruise?? Looking at the 7 night Yucatan Escape Cruise. Fiance doesn't have enough vacation time left, brother will be out of town for work, good work friend doesn't know if he can get a kitchen pass from his girl, lol. Guess I might go it alone, can't pass up on a free cruise.
