Just got an interesting email from Royal...

I already have a cruise on October 1st, and my husband doesn't have any more vacation time for this year, but I grabbed my sister and we're taking the free cruise! My offer was for an interior stateroom, they offered to upgrade for a fee but I declined, and paid $223 in taxes and port fees for the 4 night cruise to Key West and Nassau on 12/15.

I've never been offered a free cruise before and may never be offered one again so I'm making it work!

Just to confirm - the only people who received this offer are those that played in the casino on previous cruises? If you have never played in the casino, you wouldn't have received the offer. Is that correct?

I believe that is the case. Not all players got the offer either. I play slots and got this. My husband plays tables and tournaments and didn't get it. He gets tournament offers that I have never got.

I received the same email and actually we are very interested. We usually cruise in Oct but did not have anything booked because we are scheduled for a short land trip.

I tried to book online and when I put code referenced in email, it does not work. How did you find out which sailings were available? Do you have to call?

Thanks

You or your TA have to call the Casino Royale number which is different from the general RCI or C&A phone numbers.

Does anyone know if you can pay to upgrade from interior to outside?

In July as we completed an Oasis cruise we received a free interior cabin offer with a listing of about 25 cruise dates ranging from this past August to just past New Year's. We went on the Empress for a 4 day cruise last weekend and our upgrade to a deck 8 oceanview cabin (still small) was $29 each. The last night of the cruise the casino host gave us another certificate good for $300 off any future cruise in the next 12 months that is booked within 30 days. It appears they have a lot of different promotions going on at any one time. We will be on a TA in about 5 weeks and I will be happy just to get free drinks in the casino. That coupled with my Diamond drinks and the lounge will mean I won't need a drink package which would be expensive on a 13 night cruise. Our original coupon was also good for a $500 discount if we couldn't use the free cruise option.

Very interesting. Do you think the folks getting this offer have had to sail on this ship to get this offer, or is it from any Royal Caribbean ship. DH gambles frequently whenever we sail. We live in Florida and could definitely take advantage of this offer.

Have you used your diamond perks on a free cruise before? The rep could not tell me if I could use the perks or not.

I got the interior offer. Couldn't use, as I already have an oasis cruise booked for end of October. None of the dates worked for me either. Bummer! This was my first free cruise offer!

Oh well, at least I have my oasis I cruise to look forward to!

Wonder what the parameters are for the selections/offers.

Just noticed the e-mail, as I thought that it was another RCL commercial. The e-mail says to contact the Casino Consultant or your TA. Wonder if there a minimum play as a condition.

Nothing was said about a minimum play when I booked it. I paid tax of $142.23 for oceanview cabin Solo occupancy

I got the offer for an inside room and deleted it. Then I was browsing on here and realized it was legitimate. I found it and was able to book an OV for Oct. 29th for a very small charge. I am a Diamond + cruiser, and I spend quite a bit in the casinos. But...I never use my card in the machines for fear of leaving it. So RC has no way of knowing how much I spend. Interesting...very interesting!

Even if I got the offer, we would be unable to take advantage -- we have a November cruise booked....we still work and don't have 'total flexibility' to cruise whenever we get a good deal. Hopefully when we retire, they will have an offer like this. We typically book our cruises far out, to make it work the best with work schedules.
