hb1491 Posted September 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Please somebody explain is the Caribbean Princess a sister ship of Emerald,Crown etc. or is she a stand alone ship? Thank you.
fishywood Posted September 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) Caribbean Princess is a copy of an earlier generation Grand class ship (Grand, Golden and Star Princess) just with one more deck of cabins but no additional public areas or features. The subsequent generation of Crown, Emerald and Ruby added many positive changes needed for a ship with higher passenger capacity that Caribbean didn't: more deck space, larger Louts Spa w/ thermal suite, larger kids/teen clubs, relocated Sabatini's and Wheelhouse Bar to increase their size. The Piazza features, Crown Grill and relocated Casino were added to Caribbean Princess in a significant refit that was deemed necessary only a couple years after she was launched. So yes I would call Caribbean Princess a stand-alone class of ship. She didn't even get the updated features that were added to Diamond and Sapphire Princess that were being built simultaneously (though in a different shipyard). Rare JimmyVWine Posted September 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2016 After refurbs and redesigns, it is difficult to categorize the ships. For example, Diamond and Sapphire were built at the same time by the same shipyard and started out as sister ships. No more. Some ships have Alfredo's and some don't. Some have SHARE and some have Sabatini's. Some have Adagio and some don't. Some have an International Cafe and some don't. Most have Skywalker's and one doesn't. You really have to pick your features and find a ship that matches your taste. Or pick the itinerary you like without worrying about the ship. Been on these ships but I wasn't really able to compare their different features. Could be just too excited to board every time and enjoyed every minute on them. metairiegal Posted September 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Is the Caribbean Princess the only ship that has the aft "shopping cart handle" with the moving ramp going up to it?

Golden and Star also have the handle. Grand had it bit it was removed. EM
