SPacificbound Posted September 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2016 New Zealand is my all time favorite location, but I didn't get there by cruise, so I have to say Kotor. https://www.lonelyplanet.com/montenegro/coastal-montenegro/kotor

peter.kath@hotmail.com Posted September 22, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2016 We really enjoyed our 1st cruise to PNG. It was a bit of a sentimental journey as my father in law had served at Milne Bay. We really did not know what to expect but it is so interesting. The War History, the Volcano at Rabaul and the stunning islands Doini, Kitava and Kiriwini. All the locals were so friendly and happy to have us visit. We are going again next year, 7 ports this time, different ones being Wewak, Madang and the beautiful Conflict Islands. I can definately recommend it to others. joandian Posted September 23, 2016 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I don't think I can pick one favourite. Venice is definitely in the mix as is St Petersburg, Egypt, The Amafli Coast of Italy and the Greek Isles. The Panama Canal and South America was pretty cool too. mrs and mrs Posted September 23, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Sth Pacific 3 x, and in 26 days, china, japan, hong kong, Vietnam, bali, taiwan, etc, No favourites ,i can remember being asked, before my first cruise where I wanted to go. I replied, I don't even care if the ship doesn't leave the dock. Not sure if that attitude prevails today.:) just being onboard captivates me. Rare MicCanberra Posted September 23, 2016 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Mic, did you do an expedition cruise? No we did the 2 week Celebrity Infinity cruise out of Buenos Aires. It was wonderful, lots of wildlife right by the ship and all the comforts that a cruise can bring. You just don't get to walk out on the Ice or take zodiacs although we did walk among the penguins and such at Ushuaia and the Falklands Islands. mrs and mrs Posted September 23, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 23, 2016 If you get a choice, pick the QM2 rather than the other two. Working my way through the threads and deciphering which is best,or better,or worse. Will be along way off. WANT, New York, and Paris, doable but needs some serious planning and saving. Might be a land based hol, next year, not sure.:)
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 23, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 23, 2016 The main reason why I said QM2 is that it is a cruise liner, as compared to cruise ships which the other two are. These cruise ships are same design as the Costa ships (Costa Concordia) built at the Italian ship yards. The Cruise liner is so much better and faster in the water with a cruising speed generally 7 knots faster at 23 knots (cruise ships top speeds) and a top speed of around 33 knots. The old world charm with a touch of modernity of the QM2 is awesome as well.
