Rare cheznandy Posted September 28, 2016 #51 Share Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) But everyone else flies into Newcastle too, QANTAS, Jetstar, Virgin. I know that Gut.....was referring to who flies Newcastle/Sydney, those airlines don't. I have flown on those airlines to and from Brisbane and Melbourne from Newy. GUT2407 Posted September 28, 2016 #52 Share Posted September 28, 2016 The media release says: It will be built at the Channel Berth within the Port's Carrington Precinct Does that narrow it down or still vague? I don't know Newcastle well enough. Not sure either but the video makes it look like Dykes Point. Yep. Dykes Point.
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 28, 2016 #53 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Yep. Dykes Point. I am glad you have confirmed it. My knowledge of Newcastle is limited (I wouldn't want to be called a Hypocrite again).:p
GUT2407 Posted September 28, 2016 #54 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I'm still of the opinion it's the wrong spot to put it. But hey I haven't got $15 m to fix it and if I did, would spend it on cruises anyway.

Rare lyndarra Posted September 28, 2016 #61 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Sadly, even though Newy is closer to us in km's, it is easier for us to fly to Sydney for a cruise. If we drove to Newcastle (about 2.5 hours), we would have to park the car, probably the airport, not cheap......then get a taxi to the cruise terminal, so a costly exercise. We use our FF points plus tax, so about $40 each way for our flights from Port Macquarie to Sydney. A chance for enterprising residents in Carrington to rent out their driveways? CruiseCriticAUeditor Posted September 28, 2016 #64 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Definitely Dyke Point, Carrington being the suburb - same as the current cruiseship dock. DH born and lived in the area. Thanks, and also to Mic and GUT. I'm planning a trip up there so will check it out.
