Updates from the Emerald Princess – On her way to Australia!- September/November 2016

You may not be married to her by the time you can afford to come past again, I have heard that divorces are expensive, more expensive than world cruises.

Depends on your lawyer, Miss Gut might do it for free for me.

Hello from the Emerald Princess

The Suez Canal was an interesting but long and HOT day!, I think we started our transit of the Suez Canal at about 2 – 3am. Dad, got me up about 4:15am!.

Just after Sunrise I started doing a time-lapse of some of the Canal and different section of it, so if it turns out OK, I will upload it to Youtube once we get to Australia (or earlier if I can find any decent land based wifi!)

This was Emerald Princess first time going thought the Suez Canal.

After we left Suez Canal we had a day at Sea then we arrived in Aqaba, Jordan.

Aqaba is quite an interesting place, I think half of the ship went to Petra, but due to dad’s injury (and not been able to walk far), we decided not to do the tour, instead we went snorkelling in the Red Sea :), which was good, the water was quite choppy, so it was not the best conditions, but we saw lots of fish.

After we went snorkelling we had a look around the town of Aqaba and went in to Mc Dondolds to see if they had any free wifi, but it was down :(

After we left Aqaba, we now had 6 days at sea before we got to Dubai.

On Wednesday, 12th October 2016, we had a pirate drill, as we were sailing thought waters where pirate sometime operate, and Emerald Princess now has some new features attached to deck 7 (Hopefully a photo has been attached to this post!, if not I will post it later on.)

As I am running out of internet minutes my next update will be in about 5 days’ time (unless I can find some land base wifi).

Hello again from the Emerald Princess

Will post about our two days in Dubai in another post in a few days’ time :)

On Wednesdays (19/10/2016) morning about 11:30am the caption came on to tell us that they had to do a Medical Evac (Yes, another one).

They had to clear everyone from around both pools. About 1:30pm the helicopter came and pick up a passenger from the middle of the Emerald Princess.

The passenger is in hospital getting treatment and is doing well, the caption updated us today (21/102016)

You may remember me mentioning in my first post about the India visa?. Well on Wednesdays (19/10/2016) we had to do our face to face with India Immigration to process our paper work and to get a pass so we can get off the ship.

The queues to see the India Immigration for our deck (9) went right thought the casino and pass the reception!! (They were doing the checks near the theatre), it took us about 30 mins after joining the queue to seen the India Immigration.

There are a LOT of very un-happy USA, UK, and Australian etc.… passengers on here!! As when we booked this cruise Princess told us (and people who phoned/contacted Princess) that we HAD TO get a VISA for India, and if we did NOT, then we would NOT be able to board the ship!!

We then find out there are people on the ship who DO NOT have a India visa!!, so it means we wasted 400 pounds on a Visa we did NOT need!!.

We have complained about this at reception and it sounds like quite a few other people have as well!!.

Don’t be surprised to see complains about this on Cruise Critic and maybe on Princess Facebook page as well.

Thanks for the update Stu. Glad the patient is recovering and disappointed to hear about the Indian Visa situation, I remember you discussing this well before your trip. Very confusing and cruise lines and immigration should make it clearer for the passengers.
