Trishlo73 Posted October 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2016 We're hoping to get OBC for price matching an excursion, does anyone know if the OBC can be used for gratuities if you don't prepay them? Trishlo73 Posted October 6, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Yes, OBC can be used for gratuities Thanks! That was what I thought. Our cruise is sold out and I want to book our excursions early through carnival. And if we get price match approved we can use it for gratuities. riffatsea Posted October 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2016 In fact OBC is always automatically used for gratuities if you don't prepay them. They will use it usually on the 2nd day or so of the cruise.
Micahs Grandad Posted October 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Typically that will use up our non refundable obc
Maraprince Posted October 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2016 OBC can be applied to anything including gift shop purchases, drinks, photos, gratuities, tours or the spa since it shows up as a credit to your total bill at the end. Trishlo73 Posted October 6, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Im curious how can you price match an excursion? Can you call and ask them to match it? You book it thru carnival before you sail and if you find a competitor, fill out the forms here. https://www.carnival.com/request-forms/shore-excursion-best-price-guarantee.aspx We did it on our last cruise for the Mayan ruins in Belize Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
Galleon1234 Posted October 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Just curious... Can OBC be used in the casino? or refunded? If you are on a B2B cruise will any remaining OBC be rolled to the next week cruisee? Thanks

Rare ontheweb Posted October 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Awesome thanks! I'll check it out! I have seen one of the excursions I want to do on Groupon but I'd rather book with Carnival. Sent from my iPhone using Forums The idea is to book with Carnival, and then fill out the form for the matching price. You still can go with Carnival, but you get OBC for 110% of the price differential. For instance this August we booked a Carnival excursion for the 2 of us for the Harrison Caves in Barbados that was $15.99 cheaper. so we ended up paying the higher Carnival price for their excursion but were credited with an OBC of $35.18 ($15.99 + $1.60) x 2,

Trishlo73 Posted October 7, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Yeah, we're doing it for cave tubing in Belize, Carnival price is $69pp and Butts Up tubing is $35pp, we have 4 people this trip. We should have almost 200 obc, which we're going to use for the gratuities. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk

If you are on a B2B cruise will any remaining OBC be rolled to the next week cruisee? Thanks Yes, you can use it in the casino. It can be refunded if it is a refundable type of OBC (non-refundable gets used first, btw). Remaining OBC does not carry over. You can cash out and then apply the cash. Galleon1234 Posted October 7, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 7, 2016 So they will cash out OBC from Stock holder and Next cruise certificates? And the OBC can be used in the casino. Correct?

Clarasgrandma Posted February 6, 2017 #18 Share Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Were you able to do this price match? I have been looking at this also but wondered if they would honor it since the meal might be different..... Referring to butts up vs carnival cave tubing in Belize.... If you are on a B2B cruise will any remaining OBC be rolled to the next week cruisee? Thanks Not positive about the casino, but most OBC is not refundable to you in cash. We get the OBC for Shareholder's benefits on every cruise, but if we had pre-paid our gratuities and didn't put any charges onto our account, the OBC left at the end of the cruise is forfeited. Just go to the casino the last night and charge your account on a slot machine for your remaining OBC. then play a couple hits and then just go cash out at the Cage. You should never let yourself lose OBC....

o-state girl Posted February 11, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 11, 2017 I had non-refundable OBC left once, so I went to the Cherry on Top candy shop. They had gift cards, and I was able to charge one to my onboard account for the exact amount that I had remaining in my account.
