tallyho8 Posted October 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2016 I was wondering if Carnival or any other cruiseline has any non-smoking casinos. If not totally non-smoking, a non-smoking area that is truly smoke free in the casino. My wife's asthma bothers her terribly in the casinos and that is one of her favorite parts of the cruise. Karnyval Posted October 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) Celebrity has non-smoking casinos. Some cruise lines have non-smoking areas, but aren't smoke odor free (Carnival fits here). Some, like Princess, have some non-smoking nights in the casino. Edited October 8, 2016 by Karnyval

Cruise Critic's Cruise Line Smoking Policies: http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=225 Keep in mind a cruise line's policy may state smoking is permitted in designated areas, but that rule is moot if the cruise line doesn't enforce it. As you can see in the cruise line list, Carnival Corporation's brands tend to allow smoking indoors where many other brands do not. cruzeluver Posted October 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Celebrity allows no indoor smoking anywhere on their ships. Its wonderful! Outdoor smoking is restricted to just a few small areas.

Wow, that alone is a good reason to give Celebrity a try :) I wish Carnival would follow that example.

golfb4cruzing Posted October 8, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 8, 2016 But the smell still lingers. Seemed that the casino was non-smoking on Formal nights. Princess does non smoking on Formal nights in their casino. There is no removing the residual smell as it's embedded but it's still better than sitting next to chain smoking Bingo Betty. Some trips are better than others depending on passenger make up. But it's still gambling, smoking, drinking. Sometimes even winning is thrown in the mix. kicia Posted October 8, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Holland America makes its casinos non-smoking on formal nights and we really didn't notice any lingering smell. MSC's casinos are non-smoking all of the time.
BoDidly Posted October 8, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Carnival have signs on the machines where smoking was not allowed. No point in mentioning that at all no one bothered to enforce it. My wife gambles / donates a bit when we get back to our room I take off my cloths and place them in the white bag for washing.
Ykgorbie Posted October 8, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 8, 2016 I've noticed that the casino is a lot smokier smelling since people were banned from smoking outside on their balconies. Go figure.
zdcatc12 Posted October 8, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Years ago when the Paradise sailed out of Long Beach, the casino on the three day cruises was smoking and the four day cruises was non smoking. Originally, the ship was completely non-smoking after being built, hence the name. There also used to be smoke buster signs on the side of it. When it came out, if any passenger was caught smoking, they were fined and kicked off at the next port.

My first 2 cruises were on the non smoking Paradise back in 2003. As an ex smoker, I loved that policy. It will come back again. Many hotel chains are non smoking now. Maybe in 10 years cruise lines will be too. At least those ships home ported in the USA.
golfb4cruzing Posted October 8, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Never heard of any results from their new smoke eaters they were testing. Once balcony smokers started using the Casino, those new machines were probably outnumbered.

Once balcony smokers started using the Casino, those new machines were probably outnumbered. I've been on a casino cruise where smoke eaters were deployed and they seemed to do a good job. I mentioned it to several of the casino staff who seemed ambivalent. This was a Conquest class ship last year, maybe the Glory.

I have been on 4 Carnival cruises in the last 2 years. The casino is packed with smokers that treat it as a smoking lounge. The smokers stand around in groups or sit at the chairs by the slot machines and are no gambling.

The smokers stand around in groups or sit at the chairs by the slot machines and are no gambling. On the Conquest in September, people sat in the casino just barely outside of the sports bar to watch football and smoke. The smell of smoke filled the entire sports bar

xeroxme Posted October 8, 2016 #23 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Here we go again on smoking. Lol. Well it has been said MSC has nonsmoking in the casino. If you want a smoke free casino experience book with them. The no smoking is not going away. I expect in the future there will be people smoking marijuana and other drugs as part of their cruising. I am more worried about rampart drug use all across the country. If we get all that to stop.... then let's solve this problem. Unfortunately Carnival does not. Celebrity is the only one I know of with a non smoking casino. Could be more though, but not Carnival. I am like your wife, but with chronic bronchitis, and boy did I get hid hard last cruise. still hacking away, one month after getting off the ship.
