Does Carnival have any non-smoking casinos?

What is strange is that my wife and I both smoked heavily from age 20 to 40 and gave it up many years ago. Now I am not allergic to smoke but it smells bad to me and I prefer not to be around it.

My wife contracted asthma a few years after quitting smoking and smoke will cause her to have an asthma attack.

My sister, who never smoked, became allergic to smoke many years ago and one smell of smoke will make her cough and gag for breath for 15 minutes.

I used to book inside cabins to be away from the smoke and was thrilled when smoking was banned in cabins and balconies so that we could finally book balconies and enjoy our cruises in the open air. Then reality set in as we found that many people still smoke on balconies and the smoke made my wife have to stay inside while I spent much money on balconies we could not use.

I brought my sister on her first cruise last week on the Triumph and as much as she enjoyed the cruise she said "never again" because of the many times she was sickened by smoke.

Being in the air conditioning business for 38 years I learned the benefits of air purifiers and had one in my home while we were smokers and people could not even tell we smoked when they entered our home.

With proper ventilation and air purifiers any casino could be much more appealing to people who have smoke allergies but this runs up the fuel cost on ships as their generators work much harder to condition the air and Carnival has been working to lower their fuel costs in many different ways.

Also surveys have shown that smokers and drinkers gamble much heavier than non-smokers thus Carnival does not want to ban smokers to protect their bottom line.

I feel sorry for all those who are addicted to smoking now as they have many more rules to follow than we did when we smoked in the 60s and I can only wonder if the larger amount of people allergic to smoke now is because of the many additives and ingredients that are added to cigarettes now than in the past.

tallyho8, I had a asthma as a child in the 1960's when hardly anyone in my family, town ever heard of it. I suffered through childhood with it till my late teens, and in my infinite teen wisdom, started to smoke cigarettes in high school! Not much, but one here and there, and then later in my twenties and thirties was a social smoker. smoked only in social sitiuations ( today that does not exist) smoking has become a back door , outside vice. /but I smoked on and off for several years. Worked in a place where I could not smoke for hours, and just did not, and eventually quit. /the funny thing is after having asthma as a child and smoking as an adult, I was rarely sick! After I quit, there were no problems either for a long time, but now that I am 20 plus years post smoking, I end up with all these respiratory problems. I suspect is it from my early years of life smoking. I no longer have asthma, but do have bronchitis on and off. definitely prone to respiratory illness as I get older. Ok, too much going on and on from me,,but, I do wonder why at my age, I am starting to have so much trouble with my "pipes" lol.

add to say, that playing slots in the casino is a big part of my on board cruise fun, but because of the way things have gone, I either have to find a different cruise line/casino smoke wise, or stop cruising. Stop cruising is not what I want though.

Number of Deaths due to Marijuana in the History of Man ???? I don't know the number for tobacco but I bet you your bank account it isn't ZERO.

What does that mean? I hope your not saying smelling marijuana is ok? Or worse using it since it is listed by the federal government at the same level drug class as cocaine etc. I have no clue on it's deaths but I do know there are plenty of reports now from Colorado about vehicle accidents and workplace accidents that are a direct result of marijuana. So to me it's a very bad choice to use either or any other drug that's not specifically prescribed by a medical doctor.

Do you include alcohol in that pronouncement?

Sure. Alcohol has killed so many and damaged the lives of many good people. Children, family members and so many more are effected. My parents smoked cigarettes. I can handle the smell but I don't like it. However I don't complain about it and let those that do enjoy their vacation. I do think smoking, drugs and alcohol is all bad. If it was good for us the entire medical community would say throw down those vegetables and start smoking, drinking and doing drugs to live better and longer. Lol.

At the same time if you can do that without hurting others, including me etc. then by all means destroy your body. At the same time I will be as nice as I can be to everyone love and pray for them. I want nothing but the best for anyone. Happy cruising!

I was wondering if Carnival or any other cruiseline has any non-smoking casinos. If not totally non-smoking, a non-smoking area that is truly smoke free in the casino.

My wife's asthma bothers her terribly in the casinos and that is one of her favorite parts of the cruise.

Carnival Spirit is non smoking except for 2 designated smoking areas. You can't even smoke on your private balcony

Big tobacco companies have put tons of cancerous and poisonous toxic chemicals into the tobacco leaf blend, thus making it the only legal product in America that when used as directed can kill you.

Natural tobacco, without the chemical additives, is on a par with marijuana in low harmful effects.

Wait till the Big Tobacco companies start their own marijuana production, the same deadly cycle of injecting toxins and carcinogens into an almost harmless product will ensue, turning it deadly.

Same thing happens with our food too.

Additives Kill.

Really, I live in Colorado, where do you get your stats. I have not heard of any accidents caused by marijuana. Medical doctors do prescribe marijuana in the form of cannabinoids. Read about Charlotte's web. To compared marijuana and alcohol and it's negative affects is absurd

Really?? Really?? You must be smoking a lot. Lol. Because the information is back east produced from your workers compensation bureau and other sources. It's a hallucinogenic drug. Such as altered reality. That's why you missing it. But I'm done with this topic. I am not going to waste time debating with people who want to promote drugs.

Maybe some day people will be aware that all this "medical" marijuana is being pushed by lobbyists and other people who get paid to do so.

Here's a recent article from a Columbus Ohio newspaper:

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/national_world/2015/12/26/alcohol-killing-more-people-than-heroin-painkillers-combined.html#

No where is pot mentioned.

BTW, tobacco kills more than 550,000 Americans each year. Tobacco IS the number 1 killer drug in this country.

I have been on 4 Carnival cruises in the last 2 years. The casino is packed with smokers that treat it as a smoking lounge. The smokers stand around in groups or sit at the chairs by the slot machines and are no gambling.

So disgusting!

It was sad because the workers on the Conquest had to sweep up butts from all over the ship The smokers smoked anyplace they want on our cruise. The ship reeks of smoke every where.

We tried watching Dive In movies but smokers were everywhere and no one stopped them.

We sailed the Paradise in 2003 out of Ft Lauderdale and it was awesome.

<drags out soapbox>

Sorry but you and Xerox are seriously undereducated. The marijuana of today is not the same as back in the 60s and 70s. It's treated the same as food and gene technology allows the growers to target certain ailments. Seizure control is a major problem controlled by the usage. Sure there are still the potheads but at least all they do is call Pizza Hut for a delivery and aren't out there shooting up the town. That "gateway" theory is pushed by the Big Pharm Cartel. Zero benefit to tobacco. Give me one benefit?? There are your lobbyists. You do know the cig companies were aware of the poisons in their products as early as the 60s?

So since I want to get a balcony, and do not want to be one deck above smokers, since smoke rises, how do I find out which parts of which decks are smoking areas before I book.

I have been on some ships where the promenade deck port side was smoking and some had the starboard side smoking.

I have learned that phoning Carnival and asking them is useless because if I ask 3 different employees I get three different answers.

Undereducated, you will be my poster child of uneducated you don't know me nor I you. Today the difference is the stuff is much stronger and unless used for real medical reasons such as seizures then it's drug use which is a problem. So let's be clear when your getting heart surgery you want to pass out weed so the doctors and nurses can get high before they operate?? And please don't educate me on how it's good for the economy with taxes. We have more drug treatment centers going up by alarming rates in this country. Off my soapbox!
