mistyinca Posted October 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2016 If you have purchased the $3.99 12pk of bottled water after you were on board vs pre-ordering it online before the cruise, did they charge gratuity on it? thanks!
fshstck Posted October 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2016 Yes, you can save a whole .71¢ by purchasing online.
evandbob Posted October 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I thought there was tax on the bill when I pre-purchased water for delivery to the cabin before I boarded. An insignificant amount, but the total wasn't $3.99. While I haven't done it, I don't believe that tax is charged when the delivery occurs after the ship gets into international waters. evandbob Posted October 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I wasn't charged tax when I pre-purchased. Can the tax vary from State to State depending on the home port?
isaiahsnana Posted October 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I believe if you order after you are on board, you have to be in the room to receive the delivery. If you pre-order, it is in your cabin when you arrive.
evandbob Posted October 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I wasn't charged tax when I pre-purchased. I just looked at a pre purchased water order for the Vista in NYC, NO tax. You are indeed correct, Schoifmom, I was wrong, disregard my prior incorrect post.
maldenmusic Posted October 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2016 My water wasn't in my cabin when I arrived but it was there within 3-4 hours. I pre-ordered and didn't get charged anything but the price stated.
summersigh Posted October 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2016 We bought ours a couple of weeks before we sailed on both of our last 2 CCL cruises. Both times our credit card was charged $3.99 and the water was in the cabin when we arrived.

No gratuity added, but you should tip the person who delivers your order as you would any Room Service order.

Florings Posted October 12, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 12, 2016 No spring water in most ports, with the exception of Alaska, I think. All purified city water. I'm not fond of it, but for a week, I can tolerate it...lol I pre-order so it is there when we board. I am, however, this cruise checking in the onboard stores. If they sell Fiji or one of the other spring waters, I will buy it, regardless of the cost...

marty's mom Posted October 12, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 12, 2016 the pre order is purified. I wouldn't mind crystal geiser! We're sailing out of Miami If the stores sell something else I'd just buy that there If they don't sell spring water I can't believe you can't bring it on. jamscckmc Posted October 12, 2016 #18 Share Posted October 12, 2016 On my last two cruises I couldnt find spring water anywhere on board. I used to buy it in the MDR but they only had the purified.
Florings Posted October 12, 2016 #19 Share Posted October 12, 2016 Me too! I have scoured the internet trying to find canned or cartons of spring water....to no avail. There is canned "spring" water, that is actually purified spring water - totally different. And there are canned spring waters from other countries....but alas not sold here yet! Simple solution - offer spring as an option to the $3.99 water, even if it is a few dollars more. Purified @ $3.99 or spring @ $5.99. That is my wish...lol

Rare sparks1093 Posted October 12, 2016 #21 Share Posted October 12, 2016 Just placed our order for our cruise in 4 days and no tax. They have the purified water and an Italian sparkling mineral water. I bought the purified water so we could take a couple of bottles with us at each port to stay hydrated. Juligan Posted October 13, 2016 #23 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Why would you want to wait until you got on the ship to order it? I am pre-ordering it to make sure I get water and it will be waiting for me when I get to the cabin. It has been said that there is no guarantee they won't run out of bottled water to sell you so best to order it ahead of time.

Karnyval Posted October 13, 2016 #25 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Can the tax vary from State to State depending on the home port? Yes. If they charge you tax, try switching delivery from first day to first evening when the ship should be in international waters.
