mkccltr Posted November 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2016 For anyone who has gone and stayed in Rome prior to cruising do you have a recommendation for housing. We will be 2 couples, 1 needing a queen size bed, 2 baths and either 1st floor or a lift. It would be for 4 nights. TIA
CruiserBruce Posted November 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2016 I think you are implying you want an apartment or something similar? If not, a quick search of the board reveals many hotel recommendations.
Langoustine Posted November 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2016 And remember, 1st floor in Europe is one flight up from street level.
Ski Mom 2 Posted November 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) Five years ago, for my 50th, we did our own 17 day land tour of Italy. We stayed for 4 nights in a lovely apartment in Rome that I found on VRBO. It was very close to the Piazza Narvone and we loved the location! Have you looked at places on VRBO? I also booked flats in Florence and Venice using that site. Edited November 11, 2016 by Ski Mom
mkccltr Posted November 12, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted November 12, 2016 We have looked at VBRO. Thanks for the info re. 1st floor being up one. The other couple we are traveling with has leg issues and climbing stairs is very painful. We'll continue to browse and we have sometime to make a decision but I do know that they book up quickly. Langoustine Posted November 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the info re. 1st floor being up one. The other couple we are traveling with has leg issues and climbing stairs is very painful. You're welcome. I thought it might be something like that when you mentioned an elevator (Lift is the term in most of Europe, as you seem to know, if anyone else is looking at hotel websites). What we call the First floor is what they call the Ground floor. As Shaw said about the USA and Britain, "Two countries separated by a common language." Rare electro Posted November 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2016 You also might want to look at airbnb. I have used them many times for apartments both in Europe and in the US. I've always had a great experience. Lois
ducklite Posted November 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 24, 2016 Keep in mind that bed sizes differ around the world. Make sure that the inches or cm add up to the size you need prior to booking. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Love the beach Posted December 1, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 1, 2016 If you are still looking, I have stayed here on 3 separate visits. It has all your requirements and is in a fabulous location (Piazza Navona area). https://www.vrbo.com/194513 Have a great trip!
