To Suite or Not to Suite? Majesty of the Seas

We are traveling with a group of 6. 3 adults and 3 teen/preteens. We intended to just get cheap interior or ocean view rooms, but when I called they had a Family Suite available that would allow all of us to stay together. Obviously the price is significantly higher per person. (Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas)

My question is - what bells and whistles come with the Suite and concierge on this cruise and are they worth all extra cost? They said we get a cabana at Cococay? I couldn't find anything about that? I want to make sure the benefits outweigh the costs and I have no Suite experience! Thanks!!

Have fun on your cruise.

MJ has very small cabins as compared to the rest of the fleet.

Suites are much larger in size.

Edited... I had to look, the only Family Suite is the Royal Family Suite. Seems it has two bedrooms, one queen, the other has 3 Pullmans, and then the sofa. I think your family will love the balcony.

We have never used the Suite area on Coco Cay as it doesn't have much of a beach.

How can we comment on the "worth" if we don't know the extra cost?

I have only cruised the Liberty but going with the Suite for us was so worth it. You get priority processing and boarding. ( for those with bad backs and cannot stand long this makes it worth it in itself) There was a lounge with snacks before the evening meal along with drinks. We had late dining so it was a great hold me over till dinner. You can use the concierge to book all shore excursions or specialty dinning. If you are MTD you get priority seating. (Once we had mtd and the line to get a table was long, we walked up to the priory stand and we seated within 5 min). There is seating for the shows sectioned off for Suite guest. There are many perks and for us it was worth every penny.

Majesty does not have a Concierge Lounge or Concierge. She will have a Suite Guest Coordinator that can help you with reservations for a cabana or specialty restaurant. You do not get a free cabana, if you want one you pay $250. You'll have a priority check-in line and priority departure (after self-assist). You'll get your own Customs and Immigration officer for being in a Suite (also offered to Pinnacle C & A members).

We were on Majesty earlier this month in the Royal Suite. The best part of being in a suite is the size. On Majesty, the bells and whistles are slim compared to other cruises (different line) that we have been on. It does have a priority embarkation line, which was quite nice. We were greeted when we first came on board and they escorted us to our suite, took our cabana reservations. The cabana was quite nice as we wanted to be out of the sun, but it has two loungers in the sun, plus a covered area with "L" shaped seating and pillows, comes with snorkel equipment, float mats, and the nice lunch (buffet style for most of it, but they grilled shrimp skewers, steaks, etc.). The breeze was great and we had a view of the ship, so really enjoyed the stay. With more people, the $250 cost would be easy to justify. Also, with our suite there was a table so we ordered in, as we found the main dining venue too hot and very cramped for space. Our balcony was large enough that several could have eaten outside if we didn't have ample space inside (which we did). I did not see the Royal Family Suite, but with 2 bedrooms, you should have privacy if you want. Number of bathrooms would be the big factor for me with multiple people.

We walked off, so I can't tell you about priority disembarkation. We did have priority on tendering to Coco Cay; however, the Compass listed the first tender out at 8:30, but in reality it left earlier and we missed it, so we were pressed for time to get to our beach massage. As to the beach massage, I was expecting something where you hear the waves, feel the breeze. Nope. They have a building in the suite cabana area, so I would have opted to stay on the ship for a massage if I would have known that.

Fortunately, fellow Cruise Critic posters had already clued me in to lower my expectations for suite provisions on Majesty. Our room was superb, I definitely loved the space (as we like to have quiet time reading, playing cards, etc.) We already signed up for a suite on a larger ship to give Royal the opportunity to keep us as customers. Majesty didn't cut it for suite perks (although the personnel were all great!), but the experience was not too bad or we wouldn't be back!

The only bad thing I can come up with is that the JS are underneath the pool deck. On the three night they have a dance party on the pool deck. We couldn't sleep the last night due to the loudness of the party. We were directly under the party. I think if you were further aft you may not be as impacted.

Yes, it does not have a concierge lounge but they do rope off a section in the Crown Lounge every night for the suite and diamond plus guests. Free drinks and horsdorves.

In Grandeur on a suite now. Paid a lot. No perks to speak of. Very sub par experience. Shame on Royal. You could do so much more for suite guests. You want my money. But do little to earn it.

Actually that event is for Diamond and up C&A along with the suite guests.

He's just mad because he had to tender with the peasant folk. There's two complaint threads running already. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for this information! we booked this room, can you tell me a little bit about the noise level at night? given is below the kitchen? also, what is that space to the left of the balcony, is that a common area for guests? or is that a crew area? many thanks!

Interior cabins are teeny weeny....114 sq. ft. Hardly big enough for 2, let alone 3 people. NO floor space for more than 1 person standing at a time. The 114 sq. ft INCLUDED the bathroom space.

We once stayed in a SUPERIOR OV....and that was the last time we stayed in such a small space (and it's larger than the interior cabin!)

Majesty has some very small rooms. The only way into a room w/ a balcony is JS and up.

We've cruised in a JS on the old Sovereign and also Majesty. They give double C&A points! Priority boarding comes w/ JS.

Suites above JS come w/ some great perks. We got a Grand Suite on the Grandeur and loved the specialty breakfasts and the concierge suite. At the time, Diamond Plus could still get into the Concierge Lounges, but they're getting phased out by renaming the Concierge Lounge to Suite Lounge on several shiops. You'll get a tub in both the JS and the Family Suite, but tubs are high and deep. On a recent cruise, one of the fellow passengers mentioned getting an Inside Stateroom (Different Cruise line), because that was the only stateroom w/ a shower that her husband could get into.

Our concierge was wonderful. He took all the fuss out of disembarking by taking us in small groups down the elevator to deck 1, thus avoiding the crowds. I'm not sure if that happens on all ships though.

I don't see how you can sleep 5, maybe there's a bunk bed. Usually each passenger pays that high fee (unless you can book during a 3 & 4th sail free.)

I don't remember having any issues with noise...we tend to go to bed fairly early, between 10 and 11 pm. The bump out area that essentially can "see" your balcony and maybe into your cabin is crew only, but I can only remember seeing someone there once during our cruise. If you plan to eat in your cabin, make sure you have a copy of the correct dining plans. We found out after placing an order that we did not have the current list, which was aggravating for both us and the kitchen staff, although it worked out.

I like having my own customs officer it's come in handy on a few occasions.(however, for suite guests this perk is dependent on staff available at the pier) For the price of a suite they should throw in the cabana though.

Going on the Majesty in June and have booked a suite. Does Cococay have a separate area for suite guest who don't book a cabana? Did I read there is no Concierge person? So no concierge lounge so no place to get coffee or food in the mornings? Or does the Crown Lounge offer this?

No suite area on Coco Cay. No Concierge or dedicated lounge on Majesty.
