Clampram Posted November 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2016 I think that somewhere I read that OBC from your personal travel agent doesn't show on your cruise personalizer until you are actually on your cruise. Is that correct? Thanks

There should be a small paper card in your cabin showing that you have been "gifted" It is always a good idea to bring a print out from your TA as to what OBC you should receive. Kartgv Posted November 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Is the TA obc given to you when they create a group refundable? Yes it is. We had a considerable credit left from our last cruise and received a refund check from Princess about 3 weeks after returning home. The envelope doesn't say "Princess" - forget what it was - but don't throw out anything that looks like it could be a check during the likely time period. cruzrbachoua Posted November 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Hmm good to know as on our upcoming cruise we have a total of $400 obc, some from TA grouping, some from 3 for free sale and some from using our FCC and now with the excursions having to be prepaid I have no idea what to spend it on as we don't drink, we only have 1 sea day and it is a cooler climate cruise so no sitting out in the sanctuary... Well, if any of the OBC is refundable (probably not :() then that solves that part of it. The non-refundable, let's see, then specialty dining is available of course, the rest, then if you don't see anything anywhere that appeals to you, you could always purchase something in one of the shops that you could then use as Xmas gifts (or birthday, anniversary, whatever else, if the cruise is after Xmas) for friends and relatives. Or maybe even buy a couple of coffee cards for you or others? If nothing else, you could always purchase a few clothing items that you could then donate to a charity somewhere. That might get you a few brownie points with the man upstairs!! I was thinking even of a future cruise credit but I don't think that's allowable. Hopefully you'll figure out something. At least I hope so! :) Tom

The only one of the above that's refundable is the "TA grouping" (at least according to a previous post). Subtract the amount that will go for gratuities and any refundable; then eat in a specialty restaurant, buy internet minutes, shop in a store onboard, buy a coffee card or soda card, sign up for the Ultimate Ship Tour or Chef's Table OR go to the casino and open an account on a slot machine. Gamble with someone else's $$ for as long as you're comfortable, then cash out whatever is in your bank. If you're lucky, there will be more there than when you started. If you lost some, who cares? It's someone else's $$.:D

Astro Flyer Posted November 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Is the TA obc given to you when they create a group refundable? If it's a standard OBC from your TA, it shows in the Personalizer as "Travel Agent Grp Promotion" and it's non-refundable. This has always been my experience & how it is displayed on the Cruise Personalizer & in the Payments and Credits section with an * next to that type of credit: Travel Agent Grp Promotion*; *Please enjoy using these credits onboard as they are not refundable. If a TA actually purchases gift OBC that would be refundable but the OBC most of us receive from our TA is by using group amenity points for OBC which is non-refundable. I have shareholders, military, onboard sales promotion (from using my FCD), travel agent grp promotion and only military is refundable. I read a recent post that Loyalty credit (begins at 21 cruise credits at $25/cabin up to $100/cabin for over 50 cruises) is also refundable which isn't displayed in the CP & is issued by the onboard Captain's Circle rep. I've also read that credit issued as compensation for some things such as accepting a moveover offer are also refundable. Cruisin Broad Posted November 23, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 23, 2016 There is a "big box store" that was having a promotion and part of the promotion was onboard credit, which is refundable. I was told that the amount would not appear on our cruise personalizer. Guess it varies by TA.

Is that correct? Thanks The personalizer is locked once the ship sails. It can take a day or 2 into the cruise but it will show up on your onboard account eventually. caribill Posted November 24, 2016 #16 Share Posted November 24, 2016 Is the TA obc given to you when they create a group refundable? When a TA gives you OBC, it might really be from the TA or it could really be from Princess as an amenity it gives the TA to pass on to you. If it is really from the TA, it would be refundable. If it is from amenity points from Princess through the TA, it would not be refundable. When you check your on-board statement, it will indicate which OBC is refundable and which is not.
