Jobeth66 Posted December 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Ugh. Really, Carnival? $4.50 is ridiculous. $2.99 was at least reasonable, $3.99 was in the 'less so' territory. I'm sure by the time I sail in 2018 it'll be $10 at the rate we're going. (I drink a LOT of bottled water onboard - I have kidney issues and desalinized water is not ideal.) Rare sparks1093 Posted December 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2016 It's still a steal compared to what NCL charges for theirs.

I don't do well without bottled water too. I know there is still salt in everything you eat / coffee on board etc, but I don't get a tight swollen up face if I drink bottled water as well. I guess this will cut into my excursion budget. Wishing carnival would come up with a beverage package that covered bottled water & premium coffee, juice bar etc.
winddawn Posted December 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2016 This is Carnival's way of softening the blow of banning carrying on bottled water...charge reasonable prices, and then continue to jack the price up over time to temper the backlash. Just how stupid does Carnival think it's customers are?

I wish they would explain why they don't sell them or charters, because every other cruise line does.
bury me at sea Posted December 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Stupid enough to think a bottle of water is a great substitute for an alcoholic drink as a past guest perk. Charge enough for bottled water and maybe the sheep will begin to believe the swap is a Really Good Deal.

Just how stupid does Carnival think it's customers are? Some of us just really don't care what bottled water prices go to. Tap water is free and I can bring a bottle. ;)
Kfoot Posted December 10, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2016 Well I guess the complimentary bottle I get in my room I can just fill it up at Lido every time I need water or use my cup. I won't be paying $4.50 for water.
Rare sparks1093 Posted December 10, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2016 37 and a half cents per bottle. A 51 cent increase. Not enough for me to worry about and certainly not enough to keep me from purchasing it (we do drink the ship's water but take several of these ashore with us). carnivaladdix120 Posted December 10, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2016 I still think it's worth getting. I pay about that for a pack of water here at home so no biggie. I am glad I just so happened to pre-order a couple packs for our upcoming cruise on Dec 6th tho! :D

The same with bottled waters. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1159919
CARNIVALCRUISE3 Posted December 10, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 10, 2016 I purchased it at $3.99 a few days ago before it increased. I'm sailing in 9 days!

I know for me, it physically makes a difference. I don't know if it's the saline or something else in the ships water, nor do I care.

S.S.Oceanlover Posted December 11, 2016 #19 Share Posted December 11, 2016 Thanks for the chuckles. I guess you guys would never sail NCL if you saw their prices. Don't think you can even get 1 bottle on their ships for $4.50. Bill
sfaaa Posted December 11, 2016 #20 Share Posted December 11, 2016 Get real people. $4.50 is equivalent to a cup of fancy coffee in many places.

Just how stupid does Carnival think it's customers are? Well people consider it smart to spend up to $80 for FTTF. A non-tangible product that keeps going up at a much higher rate with no increased benefit. Not sure why Carnival would think people mind spending an extra $1.50 for water when they don't blink at the rate other things increase.
Justwant2cruise Posted December 11, 2016 #22 Share Posted December 11, 2016 I pay $2 for a bottle of water at home , $4.50 is fine with me , beats having to bother refilling a cup . Bought a case on our last cruise and it was plenty Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sweet Dutch Girl Posted December 11, 2016 #24 Share Posted December 11, 2016 Ice tea, lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate, soups, gravies, water served in the MDR, water in a scotch and water...all concocted with ship's water. Bottled water, no mater its source, isn't healthier, doesn't contain less chemicals, isn't a "no sodium" alternative. It is just a convenience. Worried about what is in "water" bring along a Britta pitcher and a filter (no one will stop you) and a tumbler and make your own bottled water...and you can use it when you get home, too. Or try these: http://www.thekitchn.com/5-water-bottles-with-builtin-filters-product-roundup-190450 For those of us that lived in a world before disposable plastic bottles we know that it is possible to live without "bottled water"....but, ahh, the younger generation has been programmed and marketed to believe that water is only "good" when it "costs" something. I am sure all the hype has made a nice profit for beverage manufacturers the world over, not just for the "retail" end like a cruise line.
deborahjo Posted December 11, 2016 #25 Share Posted December 11, 2016 I will buy it again. Much easier then carrying water on board even if it was allowed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
