john91498 Posted January 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Was told this deck is beneath the dining rooms and the kitchen and there's a lot of noise. Is that true?
The4Cruisers Posted January 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Was told this deck is beneath the dining rooms and the kitchen and there's a lot of noise. Is that true? FWIW, on the Fantasy class ships, we prefer the Empress deck rooms (forward). They're just off the Atrium and under the stores and theater. Not much noise during sleeping time. Tyme2Cruise Posted January 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2017 What ship are you talking about? Look at the deck plan of the ship your planning to cruise on. As an example, the Magic Empress Deck has cabins above and below as do many other Carnival ships. We have stayed on the Empress deck before and did not notice any excessive noise. Tyme2Cruise Posted January 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2017 The Splendor would be OK, with cabins above and below. The Imagination would be the one where I might avoid the Empress deck. The Upper deck has cabins above and below.
bury me at sea Posted January 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Splendor looks good. Imagination I would avoid cabins between mid-ship and aft elevators. Also cabins in front of atrium elevators. Deck plans available on-line. I keep a Carnival Cruise Brochure that any travel agent will give you that contains deck plans for all Carnival ships. I get a new one each edition so it shows most recent drydock changes.
mrsh678 Posted January 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We had a mid-ship Empress deck on the Sensation and it was great except for two nights when some kids were running up and down the hall (didn't last long) and then some drunk people were being noisy in the hall and slammed doors a couple times. Nothing woke us up or kept us from sleeping.
crusinpsychRN Posted January 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2017 On Fantasy class Empress is floor to debark. No need to lug luggage (apt name) up or down stairs. Near the lobby it can get noisy.

I agree this deck is attractive, for convenience to atrium, stores, theater, and in our case forward Elation dining room.
Freckle53 Posted January 13, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2017 We had a premium balcony on the empress floor on the Pride and it had cabins above and below and even though we were right around the corner from the elevators, it was super quiet. Rare Saint Greg Posted January 13, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 13, 2017 On fantasy class I like Empress fwd....but not far fwd....just steps from the atrium bar...just one flight up to the fun shops and main theater....You can hear noise from the theater if you're trying to sleep during a big show....other than that its great. Staying on Empress deck on the Ecstasy this July, also.
Froufie Posted September 11, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Was told this deck is beneath the dining rooms and the kitchen and there's a lot of noise. Is that true? I believe the cabins under the dining room should be fairly quiet - however if you are under the Galley I have read about early morning noise as meal prep starts very early! mdsgu Posted September 11, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We never go lower than Empress. Our rule is the higher the better -- such as Deck 11 the Dream. YMMV.
squierjosh Posted September 11, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 11, 2017 I agree with this. It was a nice location. FWIW, on the Fantasy class ships, we prefer the Empress deck rooms (forward). Straitlover Posted September 11, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 11, 2017 On the Victory, I stayed in E7350. No noise that I recall (this was back in 2013). Never did figure out what that big gray area across the hall on the deck plan was, but whatever it was didn't bother me. :D
JawjaFatBoy Posted September 11, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We've been on Empress more than any other deck and have never had any problems. Best bet though is to always look at a deck plan before booking. Besides the galley, be careful of large blocks of blank space especially behind interior rooms as many of these are living and work areas for crew and can be noisy at times. abby1257 Posted September 11, 2017 #19 Share Posted September 11, 2017 I was on the empress deck on the Splendor in April...awesome, cabins above and below!
Don Kehote Posted September 12, 2017 #20 Share Posted September 12, 2017 E97 interior midship on Sensatiion was right under the art gallery. It was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop. The only noise at all was other pax moving about through the hallway.
BahamaMama1214 Posted September 12, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 12, 2017 We were on the Empress deck on the Ecstasy last year, we had a porthole (E7, I believe. It might've been E3 though.), and the only noise problem we ever noticed was the anchor dropping on the mornings we were in port. But as long as you aren't sleeping in on port days, I would say you'd be comfortable there.
riclop Posted September 12, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Was told this deck is beneath the dining rooms and the kitchen and there's a lot of noise. Is that true? Depends on the class of ship.
cefm Posted September 12, 2017 #23 Share Posted September 12, 2017 I loved that deck on the Fantasy, I was in the rear and there is a small back staircase to the hot tubs, buffet, and lido deck in the very back. It is also quiet under the dinning room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TomAceEsq Posted September 12, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Just stayed in E1 on Imagination. Probably won't choose this room again as it's right next to a very active steward area as well as steps away from the room service station. There was also noise from bow thrusters, but not so much that it was offensive. The worst part was definitely being neighbors with the main stew closet.
