Water Pre Order

Hi,

Just looking at all the things you can pre order.

Is buying the 12 bottles of water a good idea price wise? How much would it be just buying it as we go per bottle ?

Am just worried about space as we are doing 20 days and there are 4 of us who drink a lot of water and i believe they deliver it all at once when ore ordered.

Thanks

1.5 l are $3.50; 500 ml bottles are $2 on board. Vs. preorder 57 cents for 500ml

Stash em under the bed, I'd think you could get a whole bunch of 12 pack cases under the bed -- including using the empty suitcases stored down there. Or bottom of closet, behind life jackets on upper shelf, etc.

I do wonder if they'd hold a lot of them if you ordered 20 cases ...

Let us know

We pre-ordered a 12 pack for our upcoming cruise, figure it was easier than carrying it on for just a few cents more. If we happen to go through the 12 pack, we can refill the bottles, the ship's water is actually very good. I like to have the bottles for shore excursions.

I ordered 3 cases on my last cruise as there were 3 of us. They do not deliver the cases all at once. We got 2 at first, then the third was delivered later. It was a 14 day cruise.

We had the same experience. It was not an issue to get 2 deliveries. We actually had a separate card for each pack of 12 in our cabin when we arrived.

Princess adds 15% so the cost of the smaller bottles ends up at $2.30 each. They probably would hold some if you ordered that many. On some ships they have delivered 12 at a time and you have to call when you're ready additional water that you had preordered. On the Royal a couple of weeks ago they delivered a case of 24.

On our last two cruises we bought water in advance thinking that the drinking water on board would not be a s tasty. We were wrong and the water at the beverage stations was great quality and taste. I wouldn't drink from bathroom taps etc, but in future we will use water that is provided.

I enjoy bottled water. I think it tastes better at room temperature than tap. Part way through the day, it will get warm. Last cruise on Princess, I moved to a upgraded cabin. No water and silly me, didn't print it out. Such a small item, didn't seem important. It took till the next afternoon to receive it and the casino VIP they had given me.

Bring a copy of your paid water receipt and check to be sure the order is still on your account before you leave.

We had ordered and paid for the water before our Panama Canal cruise on the Island, brought the paid receipt, but had never checked our account to be sure the order was there. When they didn't deliver the water on embarkation day, I called room service to find out what had happened (in the past, they brought the water to us without a phone call asking for the delivery - it was a really simple process, which is why we ordered it again). After a lot of time investigating what happened to our water order, and getting little customer service from the staff on the Island, we found out when we had changed our dinner reservations, for some unknown reason, the computer system (Princess'? our travel agent's? no one knows) cancelled the order. Since the charge was only around $10 or something like that, I never noticed the credit on my credit card. And there was no way to order the water now that we were on the ship. The only thing we could do was pay the ship board prices as noted above, which was annoying.

So I share this story so others won't go through what we did. Take your paid receipt and check your prepaid reservations to ensure the reservation mysteriously disappeared... I know I'll be more careful about prepaid orders in the future!

I normally just carry on a few bottles of water and refill as needed, but this December we were coming off a cruise on Norwegian, which doesn't allow water to be brought on board and has exorbitant prices to buy water. (I did bring a couple of empties to fell on board>)

Since we were doing a back to back, transitioning from Norwegian to Princess I orderd the 12 pack of bottles ahead of time. I thought it was a good deal, for water brought on board, at around $6.

I drink a lot of water, so just refilled bottles as needed. If you ordered several cases, some could be stored under the bed, on the closet shelves, etc. They don't all have to be in the fridge at once.

We were on a 14 day Mediterranean cruise on the Royal, July of 2016 with extensive shore excursions. We brought with us thermal water holders (should strap style) and I pre-ordered 4 cases of (12), which was delivered one at a time, and you could call down and ask them to deliver whenever you needed it. We stored as much as possible in our room's refrigerator, thus we could take one or two bottles with us on each excursion, otherwise ashore you'd pay the equivalent of $3US or more per bottle. A case of 12 is $6.90, that's less than $2 per bottle. We toured Pompeii, Ephesus, and things like that when it was over 80 degrees and sunny. That water came in handy. Also, you never know if water will be available for purchase and once in the countries our hotels and/or guides would say never buy it off the street, it may be from someone's home water tap, or a re-used bottle.

Actually a case of 12 bottles in a case @ $6.90 per case = $0.575 per bottle!

Thanks cindsue, $.0575 per bottle is cheaper, I was referring though that off ship minimum cost per bottle anywhere is going to be $2 USD or more likely 2 euro each. Many times too, they only sell the larger bottles and it's even more expensive plus bulky to carry.

We ordered 3 cases and called room service on arrival. They asked how many we wanted and to just call when we wanted another one and they will deliver to the room. You don't need to be there either. There's no need to get all the cases at once. They come loose so I can't imagine having 48 individual bottles rolling about.

Make a copy of your pre-paid water or drink order.

On embarkation day, I was at guest services and then on the phone with guest services before anything arrived- later that evening.

Apparently, the staff was busy- lesson learned. Buy a bottle when you get on board, in case it takes awhile before you get your pre-ordered items- in my case, it was purified water and ginger ale.

For our last Regal cruise 1/8/17 I ordered two 12 packs of water. On arrival there was one case in our cabin. After we finished that, I called to have them deliver the second. She told me to leave the voucher on the desk. We did not receive a voucher. I told her that, and that I have a print out of the order. She told me that they will not send if if I did not have a voucher. I told her again that I never received one and that our cruise the month before on Regal, we did not receive one either. I ask her to look up my order. She then told me that she has the record of two cases being ordered and one case was delivered to us. So, I told her to send the second case. She said she can't with out the voucher and told me to go to PAX services. I responded with let me talk to her boss. He got on and wanted me to go to the front desk to get the voucher. I told him that I am not wasting my time going down to the desk. And that he had the paper work in front of him and for him to get the voucher and send the water to the cabin. This was not my fault. Well, he did what ever he had to do and my water was there in ten minutes. So, from now on, I will get all my water at once.

The whole this was crazy!

What I like about your story is the bottom line.

You did what you were suppose to do, why should you have to do their job?

BTW, DH & I ordered 1 case of 12 on our last cruise. It was waiting for us in our cabin. Normally we do not do this however it did come I handy when we went walking around off the ship. We will do it again.

On the Royal in November it was purified, in the past it had always been Crystal Geyser Spring..that's why I pre-ordered it. I can't remember the water they now serve, maybe Niagara, but I did not like it.

Actually a case of 12 bottles in a case @ $6.90 per case = $0.575 per bottle!

Last month sailing the Star from LA the pre-purchased 12 pack of half liter bottles was reverse osmosis purified Niagara water from Ontario California. Water included in the elite minibar & available for purchase was Crystal Geyser spring water.

For the package price we used that to supplement our in port water supply after our Brita water bottles were empty.

Good point! We decided to do the pre-paid water this cruise. For convenience (not wanting to lug it onboard ourselves)!

Good you stood your ground. The RS crew and their boss were lucky that after being delivered even without a voucher, you did not go to the Customer Relations Manager to complain how narrow minded their RS crew and their boss are.

If you didn't get the voucher, that is on the front desk, and your steward.

After reading cruise critic for a while, I can certainly see why they would demand the voucher in exchange for the water.

If they didn't, there would be posts here about how to scam a case of water by pretending to have a voucher.
