What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

I'm on the 12/30 sailing on the Escape. I've got 3 bids - all haven upgrades. I will be fine in my balcony if I don't get it, but I'd LOVE to get back into Haven.

Any of those show as available if you do a mock booking?

That is exactly the way you have to feel. You are on a cruise! The Haven would be amazing but quite happy in a balcony. Good Luck!

For those looking at the 12/30 Escape I have been doing some tracking for my trip in January and they have had 35 Haven suites open for a while. In contrast the 12/16 ship has 0 open. So guess would be they will start moving a bunch of the open ones for 12/30 pretty soon.

I just got upgraded from an OC to an M3 on the December 24th Getaway sailing. My bid was in in between the 2nd and 3rd group, I cant look at it now for the exact wording, but I believe it was between fair and good.

FWIW - This was a cruise booked in $CDN, I also had a bid on a balcony upgrade at $75 CDN/ea less than my mini-suite upgrade, and that one was pushing into 4th group.

This whole thread is useless with all these chit-chats, repetitive questions and people not willing to tell basic information. There should be a thread with Winning Bid information only so people can easily search. Information is only useful if it's organized and searchable. What's the point to tell people that you got an upgrade without providing any other information?

Ship : Norwegian Gem

Destination: Southern Carribean

Number of Days: 11 Day

Embarkation: 12/12/2017

Original Stateroom: Family Inside I1

Upgraded Stateroom: Family Oceanview Picture Window O1

Whoever suggested this new format for providing info, great idea! To this poster, I'm assuming the cabins should be reversed or you would have gotten a downgrade. LOL!

Totally agree- innuendos are useless as is partial information, share the whole story or don't bother posting.

:'):')Hahaha, thats what I get for trying to be quick, and not paying attention to detail. Yes I was upgraded from a OC to M3.

Totally agree.

Maybe time to start a NEW list with the "rules" in the first post in LARGE LETTERS!!!

(fyi - people will still ask questions and mess it up... but maybe worth it.

Title: UPGRADES - NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED - POST ONLY YOUR WINNING BID - Please read first post.

Then explain what to do.

Thanks for posting. I am bidding on a balcony from an IC, and would take a OV if balcony not possible. Did you bid on both? If so, does a bid on the higher class go away or remain active?

Thanks

MY BID IS PROCESSING!!!!!!

I am on the 1/7 Pearl, had a Bb midshipish, deck 10, myself, partner, and 20 yo son. Watched extensively on here, and I really thank you all on here for your answers and advice. Anyhow, placed a bid in the “good” range, comparable with other bids in thread. I wanted the h4. There were always, from a year ago when i booked, 6/8 haven h4’s available. One less last week. So 5/8 unsold. I figured it would be this weekend from prior posts with that much left to sell, and 30 days out. This morning my bid changed to processing, no room number yet, but I’ll update!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Abisutton -- Congratulations!! now you're really getting me excited. I'm on that same cruise, with a balcony on deck 10. I've been doing like you, and watching the number of suites available, and saw one disappear last week, and the price go down $200 a couple of days ago. Just yesterday morning, I submitted bids in the fair range for all suite they'd let me bid on, but my most serious bid was on one of the H4's. Then last night, I saw a comment that the Pearl always sells out and rarely does upgrades. My heart sank. Today I saw your post, and I'm feeling good again. I hate to ask you to spill too much personal information, but I'm full of questions, if you don't mind.

Where did you see that it was "processing"? Do you mind telling me in dollars where you bid? I don't know if it make any difference to NCL, but are you a frequent NCL cruiser? Did you book thru them, and agency, or Casinos at Sea?

See you onboard.

Mock booking now shows four h4's left, with price dropping another $400 to $3499 from yesterday's $3899. With you and me, we keep our original perks, so that may have made your bid more attractive.

Ok here are the dirty details:

My fare for three around 2800, had a deck 10 balcony

Upgrade offer $1650 pp

Yes I know this is a ton of money. The original fare on the h4 when I booked was 12,500

I’m all in at 6200 ish after upgrade, so 1/2 off (I am ONLY speaking of my cruise fare)

I did plan on making a bid that would be accepted, so for that reason I “bid high”, to try to guarantee an upgrade....

The h4 that is now gone is the one I got, so no secret rooms being awarded.

My bid was well into the good range, no where near the strong range!!

I was not comped with casino, I also have cruised ncl once before. It may be worth mentioning that I also have more cruises booked coming up with ncl.

I would love to meet you and hope your bid gets accepted. There is a super nice guy named Bruce on our roll call, and he is my new next door neighbor. Hope you can join our haven club!!!

As far as seeing the bid upgraded, I kept the screen pulled up on my iPhone that showed the bid as “pending” when I made it. I watched it constantly, and it changed to processing around 9am today. It stayed processing for some time which made me nervous, and then I got an email from the upgrade Dept that my card was declined... I was NOT happy, plenty of money in the account for that purchase, and I thought I was going to lose my upgrade. Then another “standard form” type email came that was nicer, and asked me to call my bank to get the card authorized, which I did, as the hold up was a “daily spending limit.” The nerve..... lol

Anyhow on the nice form email it said “click here when you have straightened this out and we will still try to upgrade you.”

I clicked there once, or twice, and started getting anxious. Within 30 minutes the “processing” changed to “upgraded” and my suite number changed and I got the official email that I am upgraded. All my edocs and cabin number on my reservation now reflect the new cabin.

Forgot to mention I book direct with ncl

Good luck!!

I'm just under a month out from our cruise. When I go to do a mock booking to get a general idea of how many balcony cabins are left it only gives me the option to pick a GTY balcony if I select a standard balcony room. If I select spa balcony, family, aft etc it shows cabins available. Last I checked there were 85+ regular balcony cabins left. Do they switch to GTY a month out or does this mean they are down to the last few remaining? Just curious about that change. Thanks!

I did a mock booking a couple of weeks ago and counted how many different cabins I was able to select. I stopped around 85 because I realized I had better ways to occupy my time. I just realized my wording was a bit misleading though. 85 was for all balcony categories. To the best of my recollection there were ~30 regular cabins showing though and I assume they don't even show you all of the available cabins.

I'm 70 days out from my cruise on the Escape on February 17 but have not received any communication from NCL about bidding on an upgrade. Is there any way to get on the list to bid for an upgrade if you do not get an email from NCL?

Thanks

The only communication I received was by checking the NCL website and messages after logging in.

Good luck.
