Transfer Booking to TA with partial payment?

I booked a cruise and paid some of the balance. The final payment is in April. Can I still transfer it to a TA even if I paid some of the balance?

Yes have done this before and was no problem as long as it is before final payment

Most cruise lines allow the transfer up until final payment date. Note I said date, not final payment, as some prefer to pay off early. EM

Yes, but it is more complicated.

 

Usually you will have to have the original TA give Princess permission to transfer the booking to a different agent. And the original TA may have some cancellation charges for you to pay.

I'm planning to do that exact thing: Transfer from one TA to another. I called Princess to ask about it and was told that, while the original TA has to agree to the transfer, in the 20 years the person had been doing this sort of thing with Princess she had never heard of a TA not releasing a booking. I don't believe my current TA has any sort of charges but even it he did it would likely only be a pittance compared to the benefit from the new TA.
