Oasis/allure or Harmony?

it is a fact Harmony is build cheaper than her sisters - lots of glass in the solarium replaced by plastic foil that is blind or torn and making wind noise - Harmony has no solarium pool - Harmony main "Art" is photographies instead of the sculptures and such they use on other ships.

They big head in the lobby is plastic too and it shows already....it only looks good on pictures in reality it looks like a dollar-store-display because the plated plastic looks so cheap...

I agree with all points but the head is stainless steel. When you look up close you can see the welds. It is thin sheet metal. I agree completely about the cheap plastic in the solarium.

Harmony has the puzzle room. I hear it is fun for families. Haven't done it yet so can't speak to the experience

Just note that the 8 year old can't participate in that, but it would be a lot of fun for the rest of the group. As Bob sai, the slides are the real draw for an 8 year old.

Shocked at the negativity about Harmony.

We had no issues with the ship or it's crew, so have booked it again for July.

We also had great experiences with Oasis and Allure, although our Allure experience was definitely boosted by having Captain Johnny as Captain. He really brought that ship to life.

However, unless the slides are important, I would try Oasis or Allure, for the fact that they would be cheaper.

I can sort of understand the negativity to Quantum Class, but not Harmony.

We love the Allure and Oasis. Have sailed on the Allure multiple times. We do not like the long drive from the airport to the Port Canaveral airport- so I would take the Oasis off my list- unless you are spending a few days at Disney world. The price for the Oasis is a little cheaper. The Allure sails out of porteverglades, close to airport- The ship and staff are great. So much for the kids to do. The adult solarium is wonderful- nice pool and hot tubs. We are for the first time sailing on the Harmony in three weeks. But the ship looks great and we do like to try new ships. She is more expensive as she is new and has a few new additions then her big sisters. However, the adult area doesn't have a pool, only hot tubs. The ratings for the Harmony aren't great- but that is typical for a new ship. Will review after our sailing (in three weeks). I do not think you can go wrong with any of the Oasis class ships. PS I agree that Cats isn't the best show. I do not understand why it is back on B'way- but to each his/her own.

Maybe now that Captain Gus is gone the service on Harmony is shaping up......

Or the fact that she is like every other new (Royal) ship and experienced some growing pains for the first 3-6 months like pretty much all recently launched new ships have regardless of who the captain has been.

However we sailed on the Quantum when is was about 9 months old- it was so horribly crowded , waited two hours to get on bumper cars and the overhead arm-forgot the name and disorganized that we cancelled our Anthem cruise. So I am truly looking forward to the Harmony but guarded.

It seems both are not good ship-managers then....

Trust me, Captain Johnny is fantastic, sets a great atmosphere on the ship and the crew loves him. Captain Gus is also really friendly and always around the ship. There's a reason why he jumped from being take out Staff Captain on Allure to the take out captain of Harmony in just 5.5 years!

If you want to experience bad management, head to the Anthem! The captain we had on her certainly wasn't into the PR nor did the ship seem to be managed well.

Also, you never answered my question about what was wrong with Captain Gus.

They are all fantastic ships, can't go wrong. Harmony, while beautiful and has the most powerful engines, seems to be built cheaper as mentioned in other posts. Didn't care for the wash basins entering the Windjammer, and no pool in the solarium is a huge mistake. Harmony has some great shows, and the casino is the best. No one would be disappointed whichever ship you pick. Can't lose!

I had an outstanding cruise on the Oasis.

We booked another cruise on the Oasis again. Awesome food, awesome cabin steward, awesome shows. Top notch service. It the original Oasis Class, but that also must mean they fixed any issues and they know how to take care of their guests.
