Cashing out Gift Cards in the casino?

If I put $500 in Carnival Gift Cards on my Sail and Sign Account at check-in, can I cash out my account in the Casino on the last day of the cruise in order to get cash back? Is there any charge for doing so?

Yes you can. There is no charge, if you do it right. Load the cash into your players bank, take a couple of spins on the slots, then go to the cashier's cage to cash out.

Yes, we do it all the time. Just an FYI, if you don't spend all the money applied to the S&S account from a gift card, Carnival will send you a new gift card for the balance in 2-3 weeks. i think the limit is over $10.00 though .

I wasn't aware of that, but good to know!

I do know that if you add the balance to your casino account, then cash out, they'll give it all to you in cash.

Can these put on my account at check-in or do I have to wait in the dreadful guest services line once on-board? Or can the casino load them to my casino account?

Yes, you can do it during check in at the port. However, there's A LOT of the employees that don't know how to do it, but they usually find someone who does. If you can't get it done there, you can go to guest services to have it done. I can't remember if you can do it at the Kiosk (if your ship has one). I believe others have mentioned that you can.

As Mitsugirly says, I've been told you can do it at check-in, or Guest Services... I've heard a lot of people say that in theory the kiosks work too, but a lot of folks report having issues getting it to work.

Can anyone report if they've successfully loaded gift cards to their S&S account using the kiosk?

I have successfully used the kiosk on the Liberty... Will be using the Kiosk again on the Victory in June.

I know that if you purchase cruise cash, you need to use it all or lose it, but does cruise cash work the same in the casino? If I use my gift cards to buy cruise cash... can I go to the casino and load that amount onto my account and cash out? Does cruise cash work in the Casino?

Thanks, Mom of Winston!

I'll be on the Breeze, so I'll try at check-in. If that doesn't work, I'll try the kiosks. Last choice, I'll find a time when Guest Services is not crazy busy.

We had a $500 gift card and tried to do it at check in, but the lady told us to go to GS once onboard. She said we already had a credit card on our account and wasn't sure how to put the gift card on there. I am Diamond, so no line at GS. It took a few minutes to have it added.

We went to the kiosk the last day and printed out our charges. They said we had a credit of $287.00. However, the TV showed a credit of $314 on our account. Back to GS who told us it was $298.14. There were issues with a $45.00 credit given to my DH for laundry and he only sent out one bag and they reduced the credit by $15.00. When comparing statements nothing made sense because all the charges and credits agreed, but the final amount of credit was a moving target.

In any case, I went to the casino and pulled money from the credit. It would not allow me to do $200, but I found I could do $50.00 increments with no problem. Then for the last of the money, I had to do it in $10.00 increments. We ended up leaving $8.14 on the account, which went to St. Judes. I did a few pulls on every machine before taking the credit on my casino account and won every time. I ended up winning $300 while pulling out the balance on the gift card. We ate in the steakhouse twice, ordered multiple bottles of wine, bought gifts for the family and left the ship with $590 in cash from the original $500 gift card deposit. Not bad.

It's actually pretty straightforward- everything you buy- cruise cash, gift cards, even onboard credit- goes on your S&S card. Some of that can only be used in certain ways (cruise bar cash can only be used for bar purchases). But other than cruise bar cash or cruise photo cash, everything else can be loaded onto your casino account then cashed out. So there's no need to ever 'use it or lose it'...

I will endeavor, however, to spend every penny on my S&S card, somehow!

Cruise Cash

Ifyou buy Cruise Bar Cash, you have to spend it on drinks. You can’t substituteanything else. Ifyou buy Cruise Photo Cash, same thing… you must use it on pictures. Wheneverpossible, buy just plain Cruise Cash- it can be used for anything onboard.

Ifyou don’t spend your cruise cash, you lose it. But there’s a workaround I wascounting on. So if you have credit left on your S&S card from Cruise Cash, Carnival gift cards or OBC, here’s what you do:

· Go to a slot machine in the casino, insert your S&Scard and set up a casino account if you haven’t already (just need your name,DOB and your S&S card). Deposit the amount left in cruise cash into yourcasino account (it always uses cruise cash first before any other money on youraccount).

· Once the money is in your casino account, you can playsome if you want. We didn’t bother after 1 turn each- but we still won $5! Thenwe just opted to cash out on the slot machine.

· We took our S&S card to the casino cashier and toldher we wanted to cash out our account. They gave us the $120 cash (plus $5 wehad won!)

Thank you. I just used my gift cards and purchased the cruise cash. I would expect to use it all as well, but hated to put it on with any thought that I may lose it if not used. Although I'm sure I could find fun things to spend it on the last night if it was left! I bought the gift cards through the 10% off Verizon and I LOVE going on vacation with everything being completely paid!
