Doug R. Posted February 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2017 On my upcoming cruise on the Crown Princess in March the only dining reservation available in advance is Ultimate Balcony Dinner/Breakfast.

SpareBrew Posted February 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I heard on another thread they were trying this out on the Star on a trial basis. I also did reserve mine early for the Star. You do have to pay for it upfront, however. There was an icon on the top of the screen under my booking for Specialty Dining Reservations (next to Onboard Reservations). anthonyy7 Posted February 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Interesting! I wouldn't mind paying upfront however I like to use OBC for specialty dinners. Sent from my iPhone
thundercleese Posted February 15, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) Would love to hear more.........how? I guess maybe it's only on Star for now? I did have to pay up front, and the time slots they offer were only 5:30, 7:30, and 9:30, where I remember being able to say whatever time I wanted on the phone onboard. I went back and took a screenshot. Edit: ...I guess you're not allowed to post links on this forum or something? NeurosurgeryNP Posted February 15, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Not for the specialty restaurants but was able for the balcony dining. Regal. :) Sent from my XT1650 using Forums mobile app
satxdiver Posted February 15, 2017 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I just looked at our upcoming cruises on the Crown and Ruby and none of them offered an opportunity to book the specialty restaurants (actually one - CG - as share is the other non-option). I would rather use our OBC anyway.
Astro Flyer Posted February 15, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I was just able to reserve Crown Grill online for my Star Princess booking in June. On the Star in January it was possible to pre-book Sabatini's & Crown Grill through the Cruise Personalizer.
Near PDX Posted February 15, 2017 #17 Share Posted February 15, 2017 We have upcoming cruises on the Emerald, Grand and Coral and I couldn't pre-book specialty on any of those. Yet anyway.

Colo Cruiser Posted February 16, 2017 #20 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I hope this does not become the norm on all ships.
GlamorousGirl Posted February 16, 2017 #21 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I called them and asked and was told you cannot reserve in advance. I was very disappointed because I've heard they book up fast. The second I get on board the first thing I'm going to do is find the restaurants and make my reservations and hope that's fast enough. Sometimes they will be shown with part of it missing, but if you click on it it will work. However, if the link has a series of letters that forms a nasty word, you will see asterisks and it will not work.

No nasty words in this link, but it kept replacing a section with asterisks and did not work when I clikced on it before editing. http://i.**********/EKxujEH.jpg
thundercleese Posted February 16, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I hope this does not become the norm on all ships. Why would it be something to be angry about? Just adds another option to take care of ahead of time and not feel like you have to rush after boarding. I highly doubt they would make all of the inventory available online, there would certainly be tables still available to reserve after boarding for those who don't deal with the internet well. I just checked each of our future cruises and can now pre-reserve specialty dining for all of them. But it states that it has to be pre-paid and if I plan on using onboard credits or promotional meals I have to book onboard.
