I know you can apply travelers checks to your OB account but will NCL just flat out cash one for you?

Yes, they will.

I didn't realize these were still around.

They are becoming so uncommon I would get a written confirmation from Miami that they will be accepted on the actual boat you will be travelling on.

NCL will cash them "BUT" there maybe a limit (daily or otherwise)

Cashing them on shore may work too *** & ***

*** American Express checks look for the Credit Card logo on the merchant store front.

*** beware cashing in foreign countries getting local currency adjusted for exchange rate

One of my banks reluctantly has them commenting that with the main focus on credit cards

and currency exchange rates why bother

AAA is another source fee free but not a widely advertised offer

 

Another way to successfully have money is pre-over-pay your credit card account to have

a balance available - check with your credit card provider for details

They still are a great way to carry some money around - theft potential at or near ZERO *
