luvtheships Posted June 12, 2017 #551 Share Posted June 12, 2017 We can agree to disagree that what a find tiny is not the same as what you find tiny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ok but the reality is smoke from the casino is actually a big issue and you also know I'm not the only who feels this way As I said I've now got the funds to afford X so yes, the casino smoke will become a non issue...to me[emoji106] Regardless it's still not a tiny issue to others Sent from my iPhone using Forums
luvtheships Posted June 12, 2017 #552 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Not entirely true. I love to gamble, but when the smoke gets overwhelming, I will quit. I was just in Las Vegas and Tahoe and was totally surprised that the majority of the gamblers didn't smoke. I think statistics say that only 20% of gamblers smoke, which based on my observations seems high. I would love to see NCL follow Celebrity in having a non-smoking casino and I would bet that they really wouldn't lose much, because if Celebrity did, they would have changed it back to smoking in a heartbeat. I'm looking forward to X Sent from my iPhone using Forums

afwminseattle Posted June 12, 2017 #555 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Yes and Yes. Smokers are weak minded individuals and too many of them throw their cig butts wherever they want. I don't urinate everywhere I go, but smokers do something very similar when they carelessly throw their butts on the ground, or out the window. Casino Comp Chick Posted June 13, 2017 #557 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I would love smoke free cruising! I hope the cruiselines are monitoring this and seeing the number of people who are interested in it. Anytime one person does something that infringes the health of another person it should be restricted in any public areas. I have been on cruise ships where you can't get from here to there without going through a smoking area. Unfortunately like chair hogs or adults only areas you will always find those who won't follow the rules because they don't like them or think they don't apply to them. NCL sees the multiple people who gamble and like to smoke. I just got off the breakaway Sunday and as always the smoking section was packed the whole week. They see it. Trust me they see it. rigs32 Posted June 13, 2017 #558 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I loved the smoke free casino on X. We hung out at the bar there late night without gambling and those who smoked stepped outside for a few minutes when they needed to indulge. I am a sixthman cruiser, but can't participate in the late night casino action with impromptu shows and such because I'm quite sensitive to smoke and can't handle the enclosed casino smoke on the Pearl. My cabin mates last year smoked on our balcony knowing it was against the rules. We were so close to a smoking area, but they couldn't be bothered to go there. We didn't get charged, but I would made them pay the whole fee if we had. And I felt bad for anyone down wind of us who had their door open. This year, I'll be rooming with non smokers. TNcruising02 Posted June 13, 2017 #560 Share Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) Yes, i would prefer to book a cruise on a ship that is non-smoking. I would be willing to pay slightly more, but not more than $100 per person. Edited June 13, 2017 by TNcruising02
cookiecat Posted June 13, 2017 #561 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Depends on the ship. 1. Yes 2. No....shouldn't have to. If anything, the cruises that allow smoking should cost more. :p Totally agree!

Rare grozzy1 Posted June 13, 2017 #563 Share Posted June 13, 2017 My view is I don't care whether someone smokes as long as: I don't have to breathe or smell it They properly dispose of their butts My taxes don't pay for their medical expenses. Attitudes have changed in the last 50 years. Not only are smokers in the minority, casinos are potentially liable for claims from passive smoking. People have a right to breath fresh air. sverigecruiser Posted June 13, 2017 #564 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I am a nonsmoker but I disagree with you to the point that you are lumping all smokers together. I think you need to add the word SOME in there a couple of places. SOME of any group of people act in a less desirable manner, including non-smokers. He/she wrote ''too many of them" so he/she doesn't lump all smokers together.

Tatka Posted June 13, 2017 #566 Share Posted June 13, 2017 But too many smokers do those things so it's not a lie! Not every smoker but too many. Hmmm, we have sailed 30+ times with all massmarket since the years when smoking was much popular... and never seen cigarets' butts thrown anywhere but in ashtray. I suppose there are some people who throw them overboard, but I don't believe too many of them as we would have many more fires in sea. There is no evidence to support that statement other than personal dislike of smokers."Weak minded individuals"?!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums How did they dispose of the butts? Did they put them out in a cup with some water in it and then discreetly remove it from the cabin each morning before the steward saw it and then did they put this cup of butts in a cigarette disposal receptacle in a smoking area? Or did they fling them overboard and risk them potentially landing on another balcony, possibly even into a stateroom or hitting someone sitting on their balcony and burning them? Just wondering Sent from my iPad using Forums

Over all my 50 cruises, I've seen folks throwing butts over the side. Not as much now a days, but especially in the early days of me cruising. My pet peeve is when smokers in the casino flick their ashes on the floor, especially when there is an ashtray right next to them. I always wonder, if they do that at home as well!!! SteveH2508 Posted June 13, 2017 #570 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Just because something is not successful the first time it is attempted does not mean that it will not be so in future attempts. They also had problems crewing the ship apparently.
Crusin6 Posted June 13, 2017 #571 Share Posted June 13, 2017 They also had problems crewing the ship apparently. We know the crew demographic is primarily Asian where smoking in more than popular But the simple solution to this issue is NOT to make the ship non smoking but rather to make the casinos non smoking However the even simpler solution is to ENCLOSE and VENT away from humans the smoking areas on all the ships Half of the casino or Shazam....2 casinos....which equals 2x the revenue and will more than pay for itself. Personally I think this is coming in the near future. A portion of h2o A portion of the pool decks Of course the crew forward pool area too. Regular pax will not smell it there Etc And I don't mean enclosing the pool smoking area in the ridiculous way they did on the BA where the smokers sit next to the kiddie pool and the enclosure opens on that area Where are the brains? The enclosure needed to open onto the ocean side and be away from the kiddie area at the farthest place away from the general population possible H2o can easily accommodate this but no they just had to make the bar area the smoking area They couldn't make an additional enclosed smoking bar? I know I would have spent $$$$ if they had Sent from my iPad using Forums
meglet Posted June 13, 2017 #572 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I'm willing to pay a premium (just not Garden villa premium) to be able to smoke on a balcony again. Think I said that before...but since someone resurrected the thread.
Cuizer2 Posted June 13, 2017 #573 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I wonder if NCL ever looked into having specific cruises be 100% non-smoking? If they did: 1. Would you book one? Yes 2. Would you be willing to pay a premium to book a cruise that was 100% smoke-free? If I liked the itinerary - maybe. Carnival tried this with the Paradise. It didn't work out too well. One reason I believe was that there were only two itineraries to choose from. After you have been on the ship twice, there was no reason to return. Now if there would make it four different itineraries and maybe move the ship to a different port after a couple of years, or offer the cruise say once every other month on different ships, then I think it would work.
