Anthem of the Seas - March 12 - 19, 2017

Recommended Posts

After we got settled in, it was time for the muster drill. Our muster station was in the Royal Theater. After the muster drill, we stopped by the Bionic Bar, but, the arms stopped working so we moved on.

We sat in Sorrento and had some pizza, people watched, and then headed back to our room to wait for the Welcome Aboard show at 6:30 p.m.

The show started a little late due to technical difficulties. The Anthem of the Seas band was very good. Dru did a good job engaging the audience. The comedian, Phil Palisoul, was funny. DH is thinking about going to his adult comedy show.

Since we have My Time dining, we decided to go to dinner after the show. The line wasn't too long & we were able to be seated immediately.

The food was not bad. We are not "foodies" and don't expect to be blown away. Overall, we were satisfied.

We did not go to any shows as we were pretty tired.

The seas are starting to get a little rough as I type this. We are supposed to be rocking & rolling until the morning. The captain said we were ahead of schedule since he was trying to avoid the storm.

You are driving into 2 segments of the storm. Looks like you were grazed by the upper part; you beat the main winter part, but you are going to be in the lower summer storm all the way to PC, so buckle up! Looks like Anthem has been coast hugging all the way down, and Breakway has been mostly right behind you. Looks a little more distance out now, and Pride has joined you.

Have fun! Enjoy the ship.

It wasn't crowded at all. We went to Windjammer later on & it was so crowded. There was no seating available inside because it was too cold to sit outside.

It amazes me that the #1 tip on Embarkation day is to go to Two70 to avoid the crowds - published in many Anthem Cruise Tip threads!

You would think that a huge percentage of the crowds would at least consider meandering to Two70? Nope. They crowd a the WindJammer!

I'm going to Two70 when we cruise in June! Thanks for visualization!

Hmm, wondering if the Spirited coffees in Two70 are included with the Deluxe drink package?

Does anyone know or could you possibly find out Marsha? Thanks!

I'm speculating that they would be included... maybe it's just wishful thinking[emoji6] . We'll be sailing on anthem next month!!!! would love to hear confirmation from someone who knows for sure!

Two70 will be busy too, just not as bad as the Windjammer. Both times we have sailed Anthem, we have gotten to Two70 prior to it opening for lunch and there was already a line. Once open, the line was out the door and down the corridor but not too bad.

Do you if they had 2 Welcome Aboard shows? We have traditional second sitting dinner.

Thanks.

Nope. This thread is NOT helping at all for my PCBs. Still wishing I was back on board. :loudcry:

Glad you are having a good time, while I wait for the snow to start in a few hours...;)

Lol. Sorry. If it's any consolation, we couldn't go ashore on CocoCay. [emoji17]

I do hope you make it there tomorrow. CocoCay was one definitely one of the highlights of our Cruise. Except that my shoulders and back are still peeling  The Kids and I did the Scuba Diving Excursion and my wife and MIL did the Parasailing. They both said they would absolutely do parasailing again. They loved it.

In Nassau, we just walked to the Pirate Republic brewery and had a fw great beers. If you have any Hop Heads in your groupe. The Black IPA was rated at 83 ibu if I recall correctly. Hopheads will know what that means :beer-mug:

Someone on another thread mentioned that they headed to Nassau and are overnighting there so it'll still be Nassau tomorrow.

Just a quick update. For those following along. Today was supposed to be CocoCay Day, however, we are headed to Nassau.

Will be there next week and this is what I'm afraid of! fingers crossed.

Day 2 - Sea Day

DH & I didn't leave the room until it was almost time for the Meet & Mingle (MM). The Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle was held in the third floor of the Musical Hall at 10 AM. Kevin, the Activities Manager, was present the entire time. Dru, the Cruise Director, made an appearance & welcomed us aboard the ship.

Mimosas were served & raffle tickets were given to all attendees. Raffle items were bottles of champagne, red wine, and white wine, as well as, some Royal Caribbean logo items.

After the raffle, the MM was pretty much over. We did not take a group picture though I offered. DH & I stayed and talked with another couple (Susan & Steve [emoji112]).

DH & I stayed in the Musical Hall for Bingo. I did not win any money [emoji17] but, I did win a Royal Caribbean hat

After Bingo, DH & I ventured into the casino. I really like that the casino is not on one of the main floors, in the middle of the ship & you don't have to walk through the casino to get some place else (unlike Norwegian Breakaway or Carnival Fantasy). Since we are not big gamblers, we only played the penny slots. We didn't win, so, it was off to lunch.

Our first stop was the Solarium Bistro where brunch was still being served. The selection was pretty good - scrambled egg whites, pancakes, French toast, sausage, and other items. We then went to Windjammer for a broader selection. It was your standard fare - hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, salad & sandwich fixings, etc. While walking to Windjammer, we ran into Shrek.

We walked around a little, but, didn't do much. There were different activities happening on the ship throughout the day and evening.

For dinner we ate at Silk. It was formal night. Pictures of what we had are below. Menus are in the next post.

After dinner, we had reservations for Spectra. However, during dinner, Dru announced over the PA system that the shows scheduled for the evening would be rescheduled to Day 4 for the safety of the cast. The ship was swaying a lot which was making me queasy, so, after dinner we went back to the room. This is the first time I had sea sickness.
