Need help creating an unforgettable day/evening for birthday girl

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

We have a cruise on the Oasis booked for this July. We are traveling with the family and it is my wife's birthday on the second day of the cruise which is a cruising day. Could you please suggest some special things/events that you may have experienced to make her birthday an unforgettable day. Feel free to start with getting up and end with turning in. I can figure out what to do after that! I was thinking of going to the Chops restaurant for that evening dinner. I appreciate all the responses.

Tell your room steward and he/she should put up a few complimentary decorations, or you can purchase a package. At Chops they'll bring a slice of red velvet cake with happy birthday and an unlit candle so if you want something else let them know. We had the kids with us so we had Johnny Rockets milkshakes for lunch (none of us ever actually eat much there).

We generally cruise the week of my birthday except for this year it be the week later lol. Here are some ideas as my other half always makes it a wonderful celebration birthday week:

Purchase the birthday stateroom decorations it be very birthday festive when she gets in the room

Order a bottle of champagne or wine and get the glasses for souvenir for her to take home

I always get a dozen yellow roses, yellow is my favorite color and favorite color rose

On her birthday day, if she is into spa treatment get her one

Purchase a birthday cake and have it brought to her room after your dinner at Chops and have the family join

Have Chops sing happy birthday to her if your getting the cake, you can get her a birthday drink, after dinner drink for everybody and you can toast to her birthday or get a dessert with a candle.

Get a cupcake and write a special note or give her a birthday card and have it delivered so when she comes back to her cabin during the day she have a birthday surprise

Buy her a piece of jewelry on the ship, sneak in the stateroom sometime during the day or before you go to sleep and leave it on her pillow

Bring her back breakfast in bed, if you have a balcony

Ask RC if they can reserve a table for your family in the morning for breakfast and everybody eat breakfast together

If she likes to play in the casino purchase ahead of time a Carnival gift card so she can use that on the ship for the casino

If your at a port on her birthday choose a special place for a nice lunch, if you want you can include the family

Have the waiters sing happy birthday to her each night lol make it a birthday week!

How old are you guys? Little kids involved? If so, take over the "care and treatment" of the tots for the day. Let the Birthday girl have a "day off". If no kids, then still let her do what she wants...so find that out in advance! Don't schedule stuff that she'll do (but doesn't really want to).

You know your wife best...you'll figure it out, I'm sure! A dinner at Chops or another specialty restaurant of HER choice would be nice!

If you are traveling with a group of people I would order the big cupcake from the cupcake shop with out her knowing. Have them deliver it to the dinning room the night of her birthday. The cake is HUGE and really good. Then I would say spa day.

For my gf's 50th birthday, I had shirts made up with her photo, and the back said "The Queen is 50!" Her t-shirt said "I am the Queen." She has a great sense of humor, so she loved the attention. I also gave her funny cards every day of the week, hidden in different places. Managed to set her up to be a poolside judge for the sexiest man contest. Had her room decorated prior to boarding (but they decorated the wrong room, so we had to divert her while we redid it!) We also had the concierge help us plan a pre-dinner cocktail party on her actual birthday. Got the waiters involved in the MDR with a cake and singing. In general, just did a series of little things here and there to amuse and embarrass her. What are friends for? But she loved it all!

Well, duct taping her to something during the day would certainly be unforgettable but the rest of the day might not be pleasant. :o :D

Probably not what you had in mind...the other suggestions should get the desired results.

If they have Chef's Table on your cruise that will be something she would talk about long after the cruise is over. The best food and wine parings. There is a max of 14 or 16 ppl at that dinner. It is a 4 or 5 coarse meal with all the wine. It is an evening that lasts a life time. enjoy.
