karen_g Posted April 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2017 How much time should I budget for dinner in the Main Dining Room? I have My Time Dining and am trying to schedule my dinners around the shows I have already booked. If I try to reserve dinner 2 hours before my shows start, the Cruise Planner says I have a scheduling conflict. Will I really be spending 2 full hours for dinner in the MDR (at a Table for 2)????? Clarea Posted April 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2017 You should be able to finish dinner in the MDR within 60-90 minutes for a table for 2. Make sure you tell your waiter of your time constraint at the start of dinner.

39august Posted April 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2017 They will do their best to get you done on time. But it isn't always possible. We always tell our waiters in the specialty restaurants when we need to be done. They have never failed us.

MrsPete Posted April 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Personally, we find dinner in the MDR a bit drawn out, which is why we tend to eat in the MDR about half the evenings on board. It IS faster if you're at a two-top.

And I'm not trying to *zoom* through dinner; I was just hoping that on a regular night, we could be in-and-out in under two hours! CCC3 Posted April 24, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 24, 2017 We did a two top in January, and it was between 45 min to an hour. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Norwich Cruiser Posted April 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Whenever we have had a table for two or four persons and doing MTD we have always been finished within an hour without ever feeling rushed and that includes coffee.

JTBCruiser Posted April 24, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Our normal experience is 60-90 minutes. We have asked our wait staff to help us finish in time for a show and never had a problem and did not feel rushed.
Rala Posted April 24, 2017 #13 Share Posted April 24, 2017 I think 60-90 minutes is a very good estimate. We recently did have 2 hr dinners, but we also had a veeeeeerrrryyy sloooooow waiter(probably the worst we have ever had on our more than 30 Royal cruises (guess the odds caught up to us LOL). There were other tables near us of the same size who were leaving the MDR while we were ordering dessert. :o
