Norwegian Gem... Good soft serve ice cream?

Our family sails on the Gem next month... and we love soft serve ice cream.

 

Do they have it there? Where? Manned or unmanned? Hours? Creamy or icy? Ice cream or yogurt?

 

Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

They have in the buffet area and at the Great Outdoors. Chocolate, Vanilla and Combo. Self-Serve. They also have hard ice cream scooped by someone in the evening (and I think afternoon) with toppings.

The ice cream machine is amazing! We only found it half way through the cruise. Soon made up for it though.

I know OP is asking about soft serve, but the hand packed is in the middle of the buffet between the food aisle and the seating aisle. On our Gem trip the only place I recall seeing the captain was at the hard packed ice cream station.

I found NCL's soft serve to be pretty icy the first 2 times I tried it, so I stopped wasting calories on it lol. But, my friend (who is an ice cream addict) loves it, and makes it a point to grab a cone any time we are near the buffet. IT could be hit or miss on consistency. Wouldn't hurt to drop by and check it out!

Don't get your hopes up that you're going to be getting high-quality great soft-serve. It's okay and nothing to write home about, but it's nice to have it available (as long as the machine is working :)).

I forget what the brand was, I've seen the one gallon cartons on a few ships. Its more like ice milk, I don't think their is any cream in it at all.
